Victor's Cry wins Santa Anita feature

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) -Victor's Cry rallied to win Wednesday's $55,554 feature by a half-length at Santa Anita.
Ridden by Garrett Gomez, Victor's Cry covered 6 1/2 furlongs on the hillside turf course in 1:11.34 and paid $18, $7.80 and $5.40.
Cherokee Heaven returned $6.60 and $4.60, while Stoneside was another head back in third and paid $4.40 to show.
Gomez sat patiently in eighth place among nine horses during the early going before Victor's Cry rallied in the final eighth of a mile to win.
Get Funky, the 5-2 wagering favorite, faded to fifth after setting the early pace.
The victory, worth $31,800, increased Victor's Cry's career earnings to $177,060, with four wins in 14 starts.
