Racing canceled at Santa Anita due to heavy rain

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) -Racing has been canceled at Santa Anita because of heavy rain that left the synthetic surface unsuitable, forcing five stakes to be rescheduled.
Among the 10 races scheduled for Saturday were the $200,000 Strub Stakes and the $150,000 Robert B. Lewis Stakes. The races will be rescheduled for Feb. 13-15.
Officials said Saturday the track was draining better than it did a month ago, but substantial rain overnight and early Saturday created standing water in several areas. The storm system was expected to clear out later Saturday and officials expected to be able to race Sunday.
Saturday's cancellation was the fourth at the current meeting. Rain also washed out programs on Jan. 18, 21 and 22.
