Betting on the Dallas Stars
Ice hockey and Dallas may not be synonymous with each other, but the Dallas Stars are a Texas hockey team to know. Hockey is an extremely popular sport throughout North America, even in the south. And, if you want to get into the betting scene with hockey, you need to know about Dallas Stars betting.
Dallas Stars History
The Dallas Stars is a team in the NHL. The team competes in the Western Conference as a member of the Central Division. The team was founded in 1967 as part of the NHL expansion. The team was originally the Minnesota North Stars and they were based out of Bloomington, Minnesota.
Prior to the beginning of the 1978-1970 NHL season, the team merged with the Cleveland Barons as a result of financial struggles on both sides. The team finally relocated to Dallas during the 1993-1994 NHL season. From 1993-2001, the team played out of Reunion Arena before moving to the American Airlines Center less than a mile and a half away.
The Dallas Stars have won eight division titles since the move to Dallas as well as two Presidents’ Trophies as the top regular-season team in the league. They have also won the Western Conference championship three times as well as the Stanley Cup for the 1998-1999 season.
The Stars have had several notable players, including Conn Smythe Trophy winner Joe Nieuwendyk who was also inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011. Other players inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame include Brett Hull, the first Dallas Stars player to be, Ed Belfoiru and Mike Modano, the franchise’s highest-scoring player ever. Neal Broten was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 2000.
The Dallas Stars do not have an official biggest rival. However, The San Jose Sharks and Anaheim Ducks are two teams the Stars face off against quite often. The teams are building a rivalry as a result.
A common bet for hockey is a moneyline bet. Here is an example:
- Dallas Stars: -175
- San Jose Sharks: +155
In this example, the favorite to win the game is the Dallas Sharks with odds of -175. That means for every $1 you hope to win, you need to risk $1.75, to bet $175 to win $100. The underdog in this scenario, the San Jose Sharks, has odds of +155. That means for every $1 risked, you could win $1.55, to bet $100 to win $155.
