HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) - Charles Jenkins had his No. 22 jersey retired and then scored 21 points during Hofstra's 79-60 win over Delaware on Saturday in the regular-season finale for both teams.
The Pride (20-10, 14-4 Colonial Athletic Association) shot 50.8 percent from the field (30 of 59) and 15 of 15 from the free-throw line. Hofstra is guaranteed at least a tie for second in the CAA, its highest finish since joining the league in 2001-02.
The Pride took a 33-26 lead at halftime as Jenkins had 10 points. Jenkins, the Pride's career scoring leader (2,463) became the first Hofstra student-athlete to have his jersey retired as an active player.
Greg Washington and Brad Kelleher added 12 points each and Shemiye McLendon and Mike Moore chipped in 11 apiece for the Pride.
Jawan Carter scored 21 points to lead the Blue Hens (13-16, 8-10), who will be the seventh seed in the conference tournament.
