PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Michael Harthun scored 19 points, Renado Parker added 16 points and eight rebounds, and Portland State snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 90-69 blowout of Southern Utah on Thursday night.
Michael Harvey chipped in 13 points off the bench for the Vikings (6-16, 4-11 Big Sky), who shot 52 percent from the floor, including 59 percent in the second half.
Jackson Stevenett led the Thunderbirds (10-14, 8-7) with 26 points, and Damon Heuir had 14.
Portland State led 40-34 at halftime, but Southern Utah pulled within 46-44 on Heuir's 3-pointer 2 minutes into the second half. That sparked an 18-2 run that put Portland State up 64-46 with 11:33 left, and the Vikings weren't seriously threatened again.
Portland State now leads the all-time series 2-1; Southern Utah won 76-63 in Cedar City, Utah, on Jan. 24. Before that, the teams' only previous meeting had been in 1969.
