Preview: Dodgers (104-58) at Brewers (86-76)

Game: 3
Venue: Miller Park
Date: August 10, 2014 2:10 PM EDT

Clayton Kershaw leads the majors with a 1.82 ERA - which seems slightly bloated compared to his 0.78 career mark at Miller Park.

He'll try to win his 11th straight decision and help the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers avoid a three-game sweep Sunday by the Milwaukee Brewers.

Los Angeles (66-52) hasn't been swept in a series of three games or longer this year and has never been swept in Milwaukee. The Dodgers have to like their chances of avoiding those fates with Kershaw (13-2) seeking to move into a tie for the most wins in baseball.

The ace left-hander is 10-0 with a 1.16 ERA in his last 12 starts, with Los Angeles winning all of them. He did not win Tuesday as he allowed three runs over seven innings in a 5-4 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.

Kershaw has limited Milwaukee (65-52) to a .227 average that is actually the third-highest against him among NL teams. Much of that damage has been at home, with Kershaw limiting the Brewers to a .133 average in three victories at Miller Park.

He figures to have his hands full with Gerardo Parra, a .360 hitter against him. Ryan Braun is 7 for 23 off Kershaw, Carlos Gomez is 4 for 10 and Rickie Weeks 4 for 11.

No Brewers hitter has gone deep against Kershaw, who has allowed 0.42 homers per nine innings to rank sixth in the majors.

Aramis Ramirez is 3 for 13 off Kershaw. The third baseman is 5 for 8 in this series and 22 for 44 during an 11-game hitting streak.

Milwaukee got all the offense it needed Saturday with Khris Davis' two-run homer in the second inning of a 4-1 victory. Davis is tied with Mark Reynolds for the team lead with 19 homers.

"I'm just looking to take it day by day," Davis told MLB's official website. "I'm happy to be here, and I'm happy I can contribute in some way."

Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy returned with three hits after missing the series opener with a hamstring strain.

The Dodgers will be without shortstop Hanley Ramirez, who had an MRI on his sore right rib cage and appears headed for the disabled list. He left Friday's 9-3 defeat in the first inning.

Manager Don Mattingly used Miguel Rojas at shortstop Saturday as the Dodgers totaled four hits in Zack Greinke's second straight defeat.

'We didn't do a whole lot to help,' said Mattingly, who has watched Yasiel Puig go 0 for 8 in this series.

Adrian Gonzalez is 5 for 7 with two homers in this series for the Dodgers. The slugger is hitting .398 with nine homers in 23 career games at Miller Park.

Milwaukee's Jimmy Nelson (2-2, 4.20) will make his fifth straight start since being recalled from Triple-A Nashville on July 11. He earned his first career home win Tuesday by limiting San Francisco to three runs over seven innings in a 4-3 victory.

The right-hander has never faced the Dodgers.
