The Colorado Rockies have set a franchise record for defeats during a dismal season, but at least they've guaranteed they won't hit the dubious 100-loss mark.

After a marathon victory in the series opener, Colorado looks to carry over the momentum against the host Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night.

The Rockies scored only a single run during a three-game sweep at the hands of the Los Angeles Dodgers over the weekend, but the lineup kicked it into gear late to beat Arizona 7-5 in 13 innings Monday.

Wilin Rosario homered and Charlie Blackmon matched a career high with four hits for Colorado (63-97), which is assured not to finish with triple-digit losses in an otherwise extremely disappointing campaign.

``Nobody wants to lose 100 games in a season,' said Chris Nelson, who went 3 for 6 and drove in Tyler Colvin with the go-ahead run in the final inning. ``Now that that's over with we just want to finish the season strong.

``Guys are out there fighting for positions now. We have a lot of guys coming back next year and you want to be on the 25-man (roster).'

Arizona (80-80), meanwhile, missed its chance to guarantee at least a .500 season after winning the NL West in 2011. Paul Goldschmidt hit a solo homer in the ninth to tie the game, but the bullpen's late struggles proved too much to overcome despite the Diamondbacks scoring two in the bottom of the 13th.

Goldschmidt, who returned after missing three games with a sore back and has hit safely in 12 of 15 games versus the Rockies this season, finished 2 for 6 to extend his hitting streak to 11.

``You look at the bullpen - 5 1-3 (innings), seven hits, four runs but four walks,' manager Kirk Gibson said. ``That is just a killer and very indicative of what we haven't done. The walks really hurt us."

The Diamondbacks will need to win out in order to finish above .500 for a third consecutive season for the first time since doing so in five straight from 1999-2003, and they'll send Patrick Corbin to the hill Tuesday.

Corbin (6-8, 4.77 ERA) is coming off consecutive rough outings, giving up five runs in three innings of an 8-7 loss to Colorado on Sept. 22 before allowing six runs in an equal amount of frames in Thursday's 7-3 loss at San Francisco.

The rookie left-hander is 1-4 with a 6.94 ERA over his last seven starts.

``I just have to learn to minimize damage," Corbin said. "I just made a couple of bad pitches.'

Corbin, who also lost to the Rockies when he gave up six runs in six innings May 16, opposed Jhoulys Chacin a couple weeks back and the two will match up again Tuesday.

Chacin (3-5, 4.78) allowed three runs in four innings against the Diamondbacks before overcoming three runs and four walks in five innings to beat the Cubs 7-5 on Thursday.

It marked the first time in the right-hander's last five starts the Rockies came out with a victory.

Chacin is 3-2 with a 3.18 ERA in eight career starts against Arizona, which has won nine of the last 12 home meetings with the Rockies.
