Preview: Rockies (40-58) at Dodgers (55-45)
BT Movements  ·  Line Movements
Game: 3
Venue: Dodger Stadium
Date: July 13, 2013 7:15 PM EDT

No matter which park Zack Greinke has called home in recent years, he's been practically unbeatable in those surroundings.

While Greinke tries to win a fifth straight start and remain undefeated at Dodger Stadium, teammate Yasiel Puig might not be in the Los Angeles lineup Saturday against the Colorado Rockies.

Whether pitching in Milwaukee, with the Los Angeles Angels or up the 5 freeway for the Dodgers (46-46), Greinke (7-2, 3.91 ERA) is 24-2 with a 3.23 ERA in 38 regular season and playoff home starts since the beginning of the 2011 season. The right-hander is 5-0 with a 2.53 ERA all-time at Chavez Ravine, including 4-0 with a 2.70 ERA in six starts during his first season with the Dodgers.

Greinke, who has a 3.33 ERA while winning four straight starts overall, gave up two hits and struck out seven over seven scoreless innings of a 6-1 win at Arizona on Monday.

"This is probably maybe the second time he's had this kind of stuff,' Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "Hopefully we're trending toward this more consistently.'

Though Greinke will try to win five consecutive starts for the first time since July 27-Aug. 17, 2011, he needs more outings like his latest.

"It's got to be more consistent,' he said. "(Monday) was good but it can't just be one game and then a couple of OK games and then a bad game and then a good game.'

Greinke is 1-0 in two starts against the Rockies this season - both at Coors Field - despite recording a 7.84 ERA and walking 10 in 10 1-3 innings. He matched a career high with seven walks and allowed five runs in five innings of a 10-8 win over the Rockies on July 3.

It's possible Puig won't be behind him Saturday because of a sore hip.

After leaving in the eighth inning of Thursday's 6-1 win over the Rockies (45-49), the rookie phenom exited in the fourth of a 3-0 loss Friday. He's batting .392 with eight homers and 19 RBIs in 37 games.

"There are a lot of games left in the season,' Puig said. "I'll rest, get some treatment and see how it feels (Saturday).'

Mattingly doesn't seem too concerned.

"If he's healthy (Saturday), he'll play,' he said.

Teammate Carl Crawford also could miss a second straight game because of a stiff lower back.

The Dodgers managed three of their four hits Friday against Colorado's Juan Nicasio, who outpitched Clayton Kershaw and helped snap their five-game winning streak. Los Angeles has lost four times in 20 games.

With a double Friday, Los Angeles' Hanley Ramirez is batting .444 in his last 24 games. He's hitting .448 (13 for 29) versus Colorado this season and is 4 for 7 against scheduled starter Tyler Chatwood (5-2, 2.74).

The right-hander allowed five hits over six scoreless innings during a 12-2 win at Dodger Stadium on April 29, but gave up six runs and 11 hits in five innings against Greinke and Los Angeles last week.

He was much better Monday when yielding two runs in 6 2-3 innings of a 4-2 win at San Diego to improve to 3-1 with a 1.26 ERA in five road starts this season.

"I just wanted to go right after guys," Chatwood told the Rockies' official website.

D.J. LeMahieu had three hits with an RBI on Friday for Colorado, which won for the fourth time in 12 contests. He's batting .355 (11 for 31) with four RBIs against the Dodgers in 2013.
