Preview: Rockies (59-89) at Giants (80-68)

Game: 2
Venue: AT&T Park
Date: April 12, 2014 4:05 PM EDT

AT&T Park might not be the best place for Brett Anderson to go looking for his first win with Colorado, and Matt Cain might not be the guy against whom the Rockies' potent lineup can expect to continue scoring.

After dropping their first series of the year, Cain and the San Francisco Giants will try to secure a third straight series win Saturday at home against a Rockies team with little to show for a pulsating start at the plate.

While the Rockies (5-6) try to turn their major league-best .319 batting average into more victories, the Giants (7-4) have clubbed 15 home runs, which is tied for the majors' best.

The one they hit in Friday's 6-5 victory over the Rockies ended up being rather important, a grand slam from starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner, who had five RBIs.

"They don't really expect a whole lot out of pitchers so we get to go up there with no pressure," Bumgarner said. "It's easier to hit that way, but at the same time it's the hardest thing to do in sports."

Cain (0-1, 5.73 ERA) labored through six innings in Sunday's 6-2 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, allowing five runs on six hits, but he's 6-0 with a 3.09 ERA in seven starts against the Rockies since June 3, 2011, and has held them to a .198 average.

Troy Tulowitzki's been Colorado's lone bright spot against Cain, batting .328 with four home runs in 58 career at_bats while Carlos Gonzalez is 4 for 41 against the Giants right-hander. Gonzalez, however, homered off Bumgarner and is batting .375 with four home runs and 13 RBIs.

"He threw me a 3-2 curveball and there's no way I'm sitting on it," Gonzalez said. "I just reacted ... but things changed after that."

Tulowitzki has been out of the lineup for the last two games with tightness in his right quadriceps, but the shortstop is due back in the lineup Saturday after striking out looking as a pinch hitter to end Friday's game.

"A couple games is too much for me because I want to be out there as much as I can," Tulowitzki told the team's official website. "But you look around the league and there are a lot of shortstops that take days here and there, even the younger guys."

The Rockies are now 2-14 in San Francisco since Aug. 11, 2012.

Anderson (0-2, 4.50), new to the Colorado rotation, has lost both career starts he's made against the Giants, compiling a 7.00 ERA and .351 opponents' batting average at AT&T Park.

Anderson, who spent the first five years of his career across the San Francisco Bay in Oakland, has allowed three earned runs in six innings in each of his first two outings.

He'll try to be the Rockies pitcher to finally cool of Michael Morse, who extended his hitting streak against Colorado to eight games with a 1-for-3 night Friday. Morse is a career .446 hitter against the Rockies.

The Giants will likely have more potent bats at their disposal Saturday with center fielder Angel Pagan and catcher Buster Posey set to return after each got a day off following Thursday's four-hour game against Arizona. Pagan is batting .442 on a 10-game hitting streak to start the season.

Posey was also involved in a collision against the Diamondbacks.

"I'm a little sore," Posey told the team's official website. "But I don't know if it's from that (collision) or a 4 1/2-hour game."

Colorado also played without its starting catcher, Wilin Rosario, who was scratched due to a right wrist strain.
