SEATTLE (AP) - The Mariners scored four runs in three games against the Oakland Athletics, and Seattle manager Eric Wedge is becoming increasingly frustrated with his team's lack of offense.

The Mariners were shut down Wednesday by Oakland starter Jarrod Parker, who struck out a career-high nine in a 2-1 victory over Seattle.

``I know these guys are a much better offensive club than what we've been seeing them do here at home,' Wedge said.

Oakland's hitters had problems, too. The A's mustered only two hits against four Seattle pitchers, but both left the ballpark.

Coco Crisp hit his second homer of the season on the second pitch of the game. Yoenis Cespedes hit his ninth in the seventh inning off Hisashi Iwakuma (1-1) to break a 1-all tie.

Cespedes faced Iwakuma in the 2009 World Baseball Classic.

Parker (4-3) allowed three hits and walked four in seven innings. He's given up just two earned runs in his last 20 innings, going 2-0 in those three games. He became the latest pitcher to stifle the Mariners in their own park.

``I don't want to hear about the fences or this and that,' Wedge said. ``It's about what they are doing at home plate, working to put up good at_bats and hit the ball hard.

``They are taking ownership of what they are doing. ... I am happy to see that and not having them make excuses,' Wedge said. ``But we have to do a better job of making adjustments.'

Ryan Cook pitched around an error and a walk in the ninth to earn his sixth save. He struck out Ichiro Suzuki with two on to end it.

Seattle starter Kevin Millwood left the game after 2 2-3 innings when he strained his right groin again. After the right-hander retired Kurt Suzuki on a grounder to shortstop, Wedge and trainer Rick Griffin visited Millwood on the mound and decided to remove him. He was replaced by Iwakuma.

The 37-year-old Millwood left the Mariners' combined no-hitter June 8 with a right groin strain after pitching six innings. Though he did not go on the disabled list, he didn't pitch again until June 16 against San Francisco.

``I don't think it is anything too serious,' Wedge said. ``It tightened up on him a little bit.'

Crisp hit the second pitch of the game just over the right-field wall for a 1-0 Athletics lead.

Seattle's John Jaso hit the first pitch he saw in the second for his third home run. Parker walked Dustin Ackley and Brendan Ryan before both advanced on a wild pitch. But he finished the 29-pitch inning by striking out Ichiro Suzuki on a high 3-2 pitch.

Parker settled in from there. He tied his career high of eight strikeouts in the fifth by getting Kyle Seager looking. Only Jaso gave him trouble, reaching base three consecutive times.

Iwakuma was solid in relief of Millwood. Prior to Cespedes' home run, Iwakuma retired seven consecutive batters.

Cespedes has hit two home runs in two games, flashing the power he showed earlier in the season before a left hand injury put him on the disabled list.

``I think about making contact, but I want to hit the ball hard,' Cespedes said.

Grant Balfour took over for Parker in the eighth and allowed a one-out double to Seager. Balfour retired Jesus Montero on a fly to center and Michael Saunders on a liner to shortstop to preserve the lead.

Parker's third consecutive powerful outing put him in elite company. He joined Dwight Gooden as the only pitchers since 1918 to allow one run or fewer in nine of their first 13 starts.

``He's good,' Oakland manager Bob Melvin said. ``We're very pleased with what he's doing.

``Did we expect him to be able to pitch games like this? Absolutely.'

NOTES: Oakland allowed seven hits Tuesday night and 63 over the prior 12 games, the fewest by an Athletics team during a 12-game span since 1916. ... Each of Oakland's last five losses have been by one run. ... The A's ranked last in the majors in batting average (.224) coming into the game. ... Mariners reliever Charlie Furbush has at least one strikeout in 17 consecutive appearances, which is tied for the sixth-longest streak in Seattle history. It's the longest such streak since a 21-game run by Rafael Soriano in 2003.
