Preview: Kings (46-28) at Canucks (36-35)

The Vancouver Canucks and Los Angeles Kings are having trouble scoring. That figures to put more pressure on Vancouver's Roberto Luongo and Los Angeles' Ben Scrivens.

Those goaltenders figure to meet for the first time Monday night when the host Canucks look to avenge a loss to the Kings earlier this month.

Vancouver (12-9-4) ended a five-game streak in which it scored one or two goals with a 6-2 rout of lowly Columbus on Friday, but reverted back to its low-scoring ways one night later in a 2-1 defeat to Chicago. The Canucks took a one-goal lead into the third period before the Blackhawks scored twice in nine seconds.

"We have to learn how to win some games 1-0, 2-1," said Luongo, who played on consecutive nights for the first time since November 2011 and finished with 27 saves. "That's the way the league is right now. We can't just focus on the offense. If you look around the league, it's all low-scoring games. We have to find a way to win those."

Los Angeles (15-6-3) is also searching for offense while Scrivens fills in for Jonathan Quick, out indefinitely with a groin strain. Scrivens leads the NHL with a 1.37 goals-against average and was outstanding again Saturday with 32 saves, but the Kings lost 1-0 in overtime to Colorado.

"Strong game," coach Darryl Sutter said. "Gave us a chance to win tonight. You need that every night from your goaltender."

Now Scrivens will be back on the road, where he hasn't allowed a goal in seven straight periods.

Goals are a problem for the Kings, who have numerous skaters out of the lineup. Los Angeles placed Trevor Lewis on injured reserve with a lower-body injury while Matt Frattin also won't be available Monday.

The Kings, who also fell 2-1 in overtime to New Jersey on Thursday, went 1 for 13 on the power play on a 1-0-2 homestand. It may not be easy for that unit to break through against a Vancouver team that tops the league in penalty killing at 89.7 percent.

"We had some decent looks on the shots but we've got to get in there and get a little more greedier on (the power play)," Kings center Anze Kopitar said.

Offense wasn't a concern for Los Angeles in a 5-1 home rout of Vancouver on Nov. 9, as Tyler Toffoli had two goals and an assist.

The Sedin twins were held scoreless in that contest, something that's been a pattern of late. It's happened four times in Vancouver's last eight games.

"We have to put pucks away. It can't just be one game and then you're off again," captain Henrik Sedin said. "It's about getting that feeling when you're going to score goals. Right now it's not happening."

Ryan Kesler ended his seven-game goal drought with his team-best 10th on Saturday, but Alexandre Burrows hasn't scored in 13 games.

"The most frustrating part is that you feel you're letting your teammates down," Burrows said. "They're counting on you to score some goals and you're not getting the job done."

Coach John Tortorella benched forward Zach Kassian for the third period. Kassian saw just 4:10 of ice time.
