Recap: Senators , Maple Leafs
Date: February 06, 2010 7:00 PM EDT

TORONTO (AP) -Jean-Sebastien Giguere became the first goalie in Toronto history to have shutouts in his first two games with the team, stopping 30 shots to help the Maple Leafs beat Ottawa 5-0 on Saturday night - ending the Senators' winning streak at 11.

Acquired in a trade with Anaheim on Jan. 31, Giguere beat New Jersey 3-0 on Tuesday night in his Maple Leafs debut.

Phil Kessel and Luke Schenn each had two goals and an assist, and Tyler Bozak also scored for the Maple Leafs.

The Senators hadn't lost a game since Jan. 12, establishing a franchise record by reeling off 11 straight wins. Ottawa had not allowed more than two goals in a game since that loss, a 6-1 defeat in Atlanta.

``We were playing so well, it's a shame we had to lose this way,' Senators center Jason Spezza said. ``We were feeling good, we were working hard and everything was going great. This gives us a dose of humility.'

Fans in both the upper and lower bowl celebrated with a rarely seen wave that lasted through an entire commercial break in the third period. Toronto had lost seven of its previous eight games.

``We were focused in the dressing room before the game and we were ready to go,' Ottawa captain Daniel Alfredsson said. ``We knew they were going to come out hard, and they did. They put a lot of pressure on us early and we just didn't respond to that.'

NOTES: The Leafs held a moment of silence before the game for general manager Brian Burke's son, Brandon. He was killed in a two-car collision Friday as he was driving through a snowstorm in Indiana. ``We had a job to do tonight,' Toronto coach Ron Wilson said. ``And we tried to compartmentalize the whole situation as much as possible.'
