Clemson vs Alabama Picks & Prediction

It’s amazing to think these teams were staples to play for the College Football National Championship in the last decade and now are playing for the right to go to the Final Four in men’s basketball.

Clemson continues to be a giant killer as the Tigers have knocked out New Mexico, Baylor, and Arizona through the first three rounds, all top 30 teams according to KenPom.

The Tigers won all three of those games outright as an underdog and they will be in that role again on Saturday. Brad Brownell’s team owns a spectacular 9-1 ATS mark when receiving points this season.

One of those covers came in an 85-77 win over Alabama as 8.5-point underdogs on November 28 in Tuscaloosa. Clemson knocked down 11-of-21 three-pointers in that victory, while Alabama was limited to 34% shooting from the floor.

The Crimson Tide looks for revenge in this second matchup in Los Angeles after rallying past North Carolina, 89-87. Alabama erased an 8-point halftime deficit by out-scoring UNC, 43-33 in the second half to grab the outright win as 4.5-point underdogs.

It also marked the shortest margin of victory in an NCAA Tournament game in Nate Oats’ coaching career, who had won his first eight tourney games by double-digits.

In the last four ATS losses for Alabama in a straight-up win, the Crimson TIde closed as a double-digit favorite each time.

I don’t see the points mattering in this game, if Clemson wins outright, that’s fine. But, if Alabama wins, the Tide should be able to cover this number.

Clemson has limited all three opponents to less than 25% shooting from 3-point range in the tournament, that probably will not hold up again.

The Tigers have not had to come back in the tournament so far as they have jumped out to big leads in each of their three wins. If Alabama can weather the storm, the Tide should be able to end this Clemson run and advance to the Final Four.

Pick: Alabama -3 (-110)
