NBA: Thunder vs. Timberwolves Game 2 Pick, Prediction

NBA: Thunder vs. Timberwolves Game 2 Pick, Prediction

After last night’s historic finish in Madison Square Garden, NBA fans have a quick turnaround as we head to the Paycom Center, where the Thunder will try to mount a 2-0 lead over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Thunder outpaced the Wolves by 30 in the second half en route to a decisive game-one victory, where NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander finished with a game-high 31 points.

Can the Thunder build off their late second-half surge, or will the Timberwolves be able to get a split in OKC before heading back to Minnesota this Saturday?

MIN @ OKC Odds

As we head into game two, Minnesota head coach Chris Finch has to be thinking about how he can help his team generate more offense. Minny generated just 88 points while launching 51 shots from beyond the arc. Although the TWolves can expect some shooting regression, as they shot an abysmal 34.9% from the field, they also have to find a way to get better looks against an elite Thunder defense. Insert Mike Conley.

At age 37, Conley’s best years are certainly behind him, but he’s still a key cog in this return to the Western Conference finals for Minnesota. Conley was a rare bright spot for the Timberwolves in an otherwise brutal game one, as he finished as a +5 in a lopsided 26-point loss.

Conley only played 23 minutes in game one as Finch leaned on the bench unit of Donte DiVincenzo, Nickell Alexander-Walker, and Naz Reid, who struggled mightily on offense. I expect Finch to lean much more on Conley's playmaking and steadiness in this crucial game two.

Despite finishing with just 23 minutes, Conley was still able to corral three rebounds and dish out three assists. Conley has exceeded at least 6+ rebounds and assists in nine of the team’s 11 postseason games.

In what should be a much closer game to the finish, I expect Finch to lean on Conley to take care of the ball and help produce easier offense against a stingy perimeter defense in OKC.

PICK: MIKE CONLEY OVER 5.5 REBOUNDS & ASSISTS
