Christmas Day Matchups & Odds

Per reports, the 2019-20 NBA regular season will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 22. Along with that announcement, the annual Christmas Day slate for Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2019 was recently announced.

The five matchups are listed below:

Boston Celtics at Toronto Raptors
Milwaukee Bucks at Philadelphia 76ers
New Orleans Pelicans at Denver Nuggets
L.A. Clippers vs. L.A. Lakers (Home Team - TBD)
Houston Rockets at Golden State Warriors


Shortly after the reports were announced, the Las Vegas Westgate SuperBook posted opening numbers on the five games.

Celtics at Raptors (-2)
(2018-19 Results: Series 2-2, Home team won all four games, Over 3-1)

Bucks at 76ers (-3 ½)
(2018-19 Results: Series 2-1 Philadelphia, Road team went 2-1, Over 3-0)

Pelicans at Nuggets (-8 ½)
(2018-19 Results: Series 2-2, Home-Away 2-2, Under 3-1)

Clippers vs. Lakers (Pick ‘em)
(2018-19 Results: Series 2-2, Visitor won all four games, Total 2-2)

Rockets at Warriors (Pick ‘em)

Of the 10 teams in action, six of them played last year.

The four teams that had off for the holiday last season were the Raptors, Pelicans, Nuggets and Clippers.

Toronto, the 2018-19 NBA Champion, has only played on Christmas Day once and that took place in 2001 when it dropped a 102-94 decision to New York.

New Orleans has only played on X-Mas twice and it owns an 0-2 mark. Denver is 1-4 all-time on Christmas but it hasn’t suited up since 2012 when it lost 112-100 to the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Clippers own a 6-8 record in holiday games with their last appearance coming in 2016. Coincidentally, they lost a 111-102 decision to the Lakers from the Staples Center.

Christmas Day all-time records for the other six teams are listed below along with their result from 2018.

Boston: 14-18 (2018 - Win 76ers 121-114 OT)

Golden State: 12-16 (2018 - Loss Lakers 127-101)

Houston: 6-5 (2018 – Win Thunder 113-109)

L.A. Lakers: 23-22 (2018 – Win Warriors 127-101)

Milwaukee: 3-2 (2018 – Win Knicks 109-95)

Philadelphia: 17-14 (2018 – Loss 121-114)
