Dallas Mavericks vs. Utah Jazz

Game set for 3:00 p.m. ET on NBA TV

Royce O’Neale Over 18.5 – Points + Rebounds + Assists (-118)

Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis will sit out the first of a back-to-back for the Mavericks on Monday in their afternoon matchup with the Jazz. Utah will be without Bojan Bogdanovic in this one, and Donovan Mitchell is listed as questionable, so the Jazz will likely lean on O’Neale for the majority of their 3-point shooting against the Mavs.

O’Neale averaged 6.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game for the Jazz this season, but since the NBA restart he has averaged 9.6 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists, going over 18.5 total stats in 4 out of the 5 games he has played in. The Mavericks are the 2nd worst defensive team Utah will get a crack at inside the bubble (DEFRTG=110.5), and they really don’t have anything to play for with the 7-seed in the west pretty much anchored down.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Utah holds Mitchell out of this one with the absence of Luka and Kristaps, but even if he does play, I expect the Jazz to be careful with him. The Jazz won’t likely treat O’Neale with that type of caution, as he should play a heavy load of minutes again tonight after playing 39+ on Saturday.

Back O’Neale to go over 18.5 total stats as he should have no problem snagging rebounds and getting 3-point attempts off against the smaller Seth Curry in a game that the Jazz are likely to have a short-handed shooting tandem.

Indiana Pacers vs Miami Heat

Game set for 8:00 p.m. ET

Jimmy Butler Over 30.5 – Points + Rebounds + Assists (-118)

Perennial All-Star guard, Jimmy Butler, has been waiting for Miami’s matchup with Indiana tonight for quite some time now, as the last matchup between these 2 teams resulted in the ejection of T.J. Warren after a few heated exchanges with Butler, ultimately leading to a brawl.

Butler has since then spoke on the issue and has claimed Warren cannot guard him, and the Pacers star has something coming for him next time around. I believe him. Butler averages 20.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game (slightly over 30.5 total stats), and will be playing in just his 3rd game inside the bubble, after missing Miami’s last 3 due to a foot injury.

In his first game in Orlando, Butler tallied 22 points, 4 rebounds, and 7 assists across 29 minutes in the Heat’s blowout win over the Nuggets. Then he went under in the game he hurt his foot in, scoring just 16 points against Toronto. Jimmy is just one of those guys who, if he tells you he is going to do something, he goes out there and does it. I truly believe he has had this day marked down on his calendar from the day the game got scheduled, and I don’t think it is a stretch to think that he may have sat out in the Heat’s most previous game due to “soreness” to rest up for this one.

The numbers will tell you this one is a just a slight lean towards the over, but I have an insurmountable amount of faith in Jimmy Butler when he gets into these scrappy, high intensity situations. Butler, over 30.5 total stats.

Denver Nuggets vs Los Angeles Lakers

Game set for 9:00 p.m. ET on TNT

Michael Porter Jr. Over 29.5 – Points + Rebounds + Assists (-115)

The 14th pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, Michael Porter Jr, has been incredible for Denver inside the Orlando bubble, scoring 20+ points in 4 straight games for the Nuggets, after scoring 20+ points just twice in his professional career prior to the restart.

Denver has really leaned on the Missouri product for volume in Orlando, averaging 17.7 FGA in his last 4 games, after averaging just 6.9 FGA in the regular season. So far in Orlando, Porter has averaged 25.6 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 1.6 assists, and that includes his 24-minute outing against Miami on August 1st. In games he is getting a full slate of minutes in (30+ min), he is averaging 29.3 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists.

He should easily get 30+ minutes on Monday night. For the Lakers, I believe the majority of the defensive attention gets placed on Nikola Jokic tonight, as he tallied 30 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists in the Nuggets OT win over the Jazz on Saturday. The Lakers have the 1 seed in the West locked up, and have nothing left to play for in the regular season.

Porter Jr. has gone over 29.5 total stats in 4 straight games inside the bubble. I don’t believe the Lakers will put in the defensive effort to contain the energy and explosiveness of MPJ, and I think the 22-year old easily goes over 29.5 total stats for a 5th straight contest in tonight’s nationally televised matchup with the Lakers.
