New Orleans Pelicans vs. Golden State Warriors Predictions
After completely falling apart without Zion Williamson down the stretch last season (1-5), the Pelicans seemingly picked up right where they left off to open the new year, as New Orleans dropped five-of-six games without Zion to kick off the season – with losses in typically winnable matchups against the Hawks, Timberwolves, and Kings.
Things got much worse last weekend though, as Brandon Ingram landed on the injury report with a hip injury following the Pelicans’ narrow loss to the Kings on Saturday night (L, 113-109) – sidelining the All- Star forward for the following three games, inherently dropping New Orleans to 1-8 on the season with three more ugly losses.
On the other hand, Golden State has kicked off the new season with an impressive revenge tour, considering the Warriors boast a 6-1 record with victories over the Lakers, Clippers, and Hornets – with their only loss coming in an overtime matchup against the Grizzlies (L, 104-101).
What’s even more impressive about Golden State’s hot start, is the adequate support Steph Curry has received from his supporting cast so far – highlighted by Andrew Wiggins, Jordan Poole, and Damion Leeall averaging 14+ PPG on 40% FG or better this season, to accompany Curry’s stellar 26.7 PPG on 42% FG.
I’ll lay the points with the Warriors here, as the Pelicans have posted three straight losses by an average margin of 10.3 PPG since Ingram’s hip injury – and we’ll probably witness a similar result on Friday night.

New Orleans Pelicans Betting Analysis
Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)
- SU: 1-8
- ATS: 4-5
- O/U: 2-6-1
The Pelicans appeared to be making a bit of a playoff push down the stretch of last season, as they closed out April with wins in four-of-six games – keeping things somewhat competitive in the race for the final spot in the Play-In Tournament.
New Orleans quickly hit rock-bottom in May though, as Zion suffered a season-ending foot injury that ultimately led to the Pelicans losing six of their final seven games – and missing the playoffs by a relatively wide margin.
The Pelicans’ record already stood at 1-5 before Ingram’s latest injury – and now, with two All-Stars sidelined, it’s probably downhill sledding from here.
Golden State Warriors Betting Analysis
Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)
- SU: 6-1
- ATS: 4-3
- O/U: 1-6
Golden State’s victory on opening night seemingly wasn’t just a flash in the pan either, considering the Warriors have followed up with wins in five-of-six contests – with their only loss coming in overtime to the Grizzlies (L, 104-101 OT), which was a passionate defensive battle that they probably should’ve won.

The New Orleans Pelicans have lost five straight games. (AP)

New Orleans Pelicans vs. Golden State Warriors Betting Conclusion
After posting back-to-back double-digit victories over the Thunder and Hornets, the Warriors head into Friday’s contest generously favored over the visiting Pelicans – marking the tenth straight game New Orleans has been underdogs in.
I’ll lay the points with Golden State here, as New Orleans has proven far too difficult to trust with a superstar absent – and especially with two missing.
