After last year’s impressive Eastern Conference Finals’ run, the Hawks stumbled out to a surprisingly slow start to this season, as the Hawks kicked things off with a frustrating 16-25 SU and 14-27 ATS skid – despite getting tagged as favorites in 25 of those matchups.

The Hawks have played solid, yet inconsistent basketball since New Year’s Day though, considering the Hawks sit 15-14 SU and 14-15 ATS in their last 29 games – despite yielding sturdy averages of 114.2 OPPG and 112.8 DPPG across that window.

On the other hand, Los Angeles posted a surprisingly strong start despite the absence of five-time All-Pro Kawhi Leonard, as the Clippers kicked things off with a sturdy 16-15 SU run – with ten of those victories coming by 10+ PTS.

Paul George’s extensive absence hasn’t significantly hampered them either, considering the Clippers boast records of 19-18 SU and 21-16 ATS since PG’s latest injury – while holding their opponents to just 109.6 DPPG across that timeframe.

I’ll back Atlanta here, as the Clippers are 9-6 SU and 8-7 ATS since the start of February, while scoring 109.9 OPPG and allowing 105.5 DPPG across that span – setting the stage for a tough road matchup against a Hawks squad that’s scored 115+ PTS in eight of their last 12 games (117.3 OPPG).

Atlanta entered this season with incredibly high expectations after last year’s unexpected Eastern Conference Finals’ run, considering Atlanta dominated the Knicks in a five-game first-round set and stunned the top-seeded Sixers in the second, before inevitably falling short against Milwaukee in a competitive six-game ECF.

The Hawks have been om quite the rollercoaster since January though, considering the Hawks are 15-14 SU and 14-15 ATS in their last 29 games – despite averaging a lofty 114.2 OPPG across that timeframe.
