NBA Daily Tip Sheet Picks and Predictions – Saturday’s Triple Threat
There's several ways to bet on the NBA, and some of the most popular ones include taking a side, a full-game total, or a player prop. So, this is what we like to call our Daily Triple Threat. Our three best bets in the aforementioned categories for NBA matchups on Saturday, April 8th. Best of luck!
NBA Best Bets for Saturday, April 8
- Minnesota Timberwolves -13.5 (-110) @ SAS
- Nuggets-Jazz Under 225.5 (-110)
- Russell Westbrook (LAC) Over 1.5 Three Pointers Made (+140) vs. POR
Minnesota Timberwolves -13.5 (-110) @ SAS
- Matchup: Minnesota Timberwolves vs. San Antonio Spurs
- TV-Time: NBA League Pass, 4:00 p.m. ET
The Spurs now own a slight edge over the Rockets and Pistons at the bottom of the league totem pole after posting wins over the Kings and Blazers in two of their last three games, but make no mistake about it, San Antonio is still one of the worst teams in basketball, if not the actual worst, currently ranked 29th in offensive rating and 30th in defensive rating (109.9 ORtg, 120 DRtg).
While on the other hand, the Timberwolves don’t have much to play for at the moment either, considering they are already locked into the Play-In Tournament, and there’s very little chance of them catching the Pelicans or Lakers for the 8-seed, but at the very least, they’ll want to earn homecourt advantage in their first matchup of the Play-In.
The Wolves are 1-3 in their last four contests, though, while ranking 21st in net rating during that span (-3.2 NetRtg), which certainly isn’t the note you want to leave off on heading into the postseason.
So, expect a legitimate winning effort from Minnesota in Saturday afternoon’s matchup against a Spurs’ squad that’s posted a miserable record of 7-28 since mid-January.
Nuggets-Jazz Under 225.5 (-110)
- Matchup: Denver Nuggets vs. Utah Jazz
- TV-Time: NBA League Pass, 3:30 p.m. ET
Speaking of teams with very little left to play for at the moment, the fates of both the Nuggets and Jazz have already been decided at this point of the season on opposite sides of the spectrum, considering Denver already has the 1-seed locked up with a two-game lead over Memphis, as opposed to Utah, who has been eliminated from playoff contention.
When teams don’t have much left to play for, though, we usually see them slack off at the defensive end and drive up the scores of their contests, however, that’s been far from the case for these two squads.
The Nuggets have posted a lackluster record of 6-9 in their last 15 games, which primarily stems from the fact they’ve fallen short of the 110-point scoring mark in nearly half of those affairs (7), ultimately, leading to the total staying ‘under’ in nine of their last 11 contests.
So, I’ll take the ‘under’ in Saturday’s matchup against a Jazz’ squad that’s fallen short of the 110-point scoring mark in three of their last six contests.

Russell Westbrook (LAC) Over 1.5 Three Pointers Made
- Matchup: Portland Trail Blazers vs. Los Angeles Clippers
- TV-Time: NBA League Pass, 4:00 p.m. ET
Russell Westbrook isn’t particularly known for being an efficient three-point shooter, or an efficient offensive player in general, highlighted by Westbrook knocking down roughly one longball per game at a 30.5% clip for his career, despite hoisting up almost four three-point attempts per contest.
However, the Clippers have been pretty nonchalant at the offensive end of the floor as of late, and surprisingly, Westbrook has settled into a little bit of a rhythm from beyond the arc, as he enters Saturday having knocked down a pair of three-point attempts in three of his last four outings, with two of those performances ringing in at 3+ three-pointers made.
So, I’ll back Westbrook to keep that momentum going from long range in Saturday’s matchup against a Blazers’ squad that’s surrendered 120+ points in nine of their last 14 contests.
Michael's Triple Threat Tracker: 73-59-3 (+635)
- Minnesota Timberwolves -13.5 (-110) @ SAS
- Nuggets-Jazz Under 225.5 (-110)
- Russell Westbrook (LAC) Over 1.5 Three Pointers Made (+140) vs. POR
