There has been a lot of talk about Giannis and his next move. Yahoo Sports has reported that the Bucks are talking with Giannis about a potential exit from the team, opening the door for a trade or potential retirement.
Here is what our NBA expert Derek Mountain has to say about the potential move:
"According to Windy, it seems like not only has Giannis requested a trade but it appears he's zeroing in on the Knicks in hopes of landing on a contender. But, if the Bucks are looking for the best return they'll be looking past NY. The Spurs stand out - they can probably entice Milwaukee with the best combination of picks and young pieces, but will they be willing to part with...say a young guy like Stephon Castle to accelerate their timeline or stay the course? The Hawks also could put together a nice package with a ton of draft capital. A potential sleeper in all of this could be the Detroit Pistons. They have all their picks, have been one of the NBA's top teams in a wide-open east, and some young assets they could ship away. A trade centered around Jalen Duren or Ausar Thompson and picks for Giannis could make sense for both sides"
Last night against the Detroit Pistons, the star big suffered a non-contact calf strain and left the game. This came shortly after the news of a potential exit entered the mainstream. Giannis is expected to be out 2-4 weeks from this calf strain he suffered.
Doc Rivers has denied any reports of Giannis requesting a trade:
"I want to make it clear for the — I want to say one more time — for the 50th time, and clearly it's not getting to one network, for sure, Giannis has never asked to be traded," Rivers told reporters, per The Athletic's Eric Nehm. "Ever. I can't make that more clear."
Rivers went on to further deny that the Bucks have engaged in any trade talks with Antetokounmpo or his agent. Believe him? Check out our NBA odds to see the latest odds for Bucks games.
