CHICAGO BULLS vs. TORONTO RAPTORS BETTING PREDICTION

The Bulls almost always serve as an attractive underdog option in the betting market, headlined by All-Star caliber talent such as Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Nikola Vucevic; and the rest of their rotation is filled with smaller household names such as Goran Dragic, Alex Caruso, and Derrick Jones Jr, which in turn, makes it seem like Chicago has puncher’s chance in virtually every game.

Unfortunately, the fact of the matter is, the Bulls rank 22nd in scoring and 24th in offensive rating (113 PPG, 113.5 ORtg), and when a team ranks Bottom 10 in the league in those two departments, winning games becomes far more complicated than having notable names on the roster.

The Bulls managed to sneak into the Play-In Tournament despite posting a losing record of 40-42, which beat out the Wizards and Pacers by five games, who seemingly did everything in their power down the stretch to ensure their position in the draft lottery, while Chicago rose up and claimed the 10th spot.

To give credit where it’s due, though, the Bulls’ have played excellent defense all season, currently ranked 5th in the league in defensive rating (112.2 DRtg), which is the only thing that’s kept this team afloat throughout the year; but unfortunately,, they aren’t the only excellent defensive team in this matchup, which puts a lot of pressure on their offense to be the difference maker in a road elimination game.

The Raptors’ defense hasn’t been quite as good as Chicago’s throughout the year, ranked just 12th in the league in defensive rating on the season (114 DRtg), however, they rank 4th since February 2nd (111 DRtg), and their play at the offensive end has been good enough to make up for it in most instances, especially in matchups against relatively stagnant offensive units like the Bulls.

In the grand scheme of things, the difference between a team ranking 5th and 12th in defensive rating isn’t all that wide of a gap, and truth be told, the Raptors have played much better defense as of late than their overall numbers show. So, in a matchup in which offense should ultimately serve as the differentiating factor, back the home team that’s known for posting far more efficient offensive numbers.
