Utah Jazz vs. Miami Heat Predictions

After earning the top-seed in the West with a record of 52-20 last year, Utah already appears to be gradually establishing that same dominant presence early on this season, considering the Jazz enter Saturday’s contest with a league-best 7-1 record – which includes an impressive trio of wins over the Bucks, Nuggets, and Hawks.

Utah’s lone defeat came on the road against a gritty Eastern Conference squad in Chicago though, as the Jazz got twisted up in a back-and-forth defensive battle against the new-look Bulls back on Halloween weekend – scoring just 99 PTS on 38% FG during Donovan Mitchell and company’s first loss of the year. On the other hand, Miami is also having an excellent start to the new season, considering the Heat head into Saturday’s contest boasting a sturdy 6-2 record – which includes upset victories over the Bucks, Mavericks, and Nets.

Miami ran into some trouble against Boston on Thursday night though, as All-Star guard Kyle Lowrywent to the locker room with an ankle sprain – leading to the Heat scoring just 78 points on 35% FG throughout the ugly loss (L, 95-78).

I’ll take the under here, as the total has stayed under in six-of-eight Jazz’ games and five-of-eight Heat’ games so far this season – and Saturday night might shape out to be these teams’ lowest-scoring affair yet with both Lowry and Mitchell listed as questionable with ankle injuries.

Utah Jazz Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 7-1
  • ATS: 6-2
  • O/U: 2-6

After posting the best record in the league last year, Utah’s playoff run came to a surprisingly abrupt halt in the second round, as the Jazz drew the fourth-seeded Clippers – and despite Kawhi Leonard’s devastating injury in Game 3, L.A. prevailed in just six games.

Utah is clearly out to make a statement in the early stages of this season though, considering the Jazz enter Saturday’s contest sitting at 7-1 SU and 6-2 ATS – which makes me slightly hesitant to take the points at home with Miami here.

Miami Heat Betting Analysis

Straight Up - SU, Against the Spread - ATS, Over-Under (O/U)

  • SU: 6-2
  • ATS: 6-2
  • O/U: 3-5

After getting swept out of the first round by Milwaukee in last year’s playoffs, the Heat made some dramatic changes during the offseason to help better suit their immediate needs, as Miami shippedGoran Dragic and Precious Achiuwa to Toronto in exchange for an All-Star point-guard in Lowry in a blockbuster deal.

Miami already stood as a solid squad prior to the trade, considering the Heat paved a brilliant path to the NBA Finals through the neutral Orlando bubble – and then got eliminated by the defending champs in last year’s playoffs, which doesn’t bode horribly in hindsight.

Once Lowry settles into a rhythm with his new team, the Heat should comfortably rank alongside all the top contenders in the East – but that’s tough to do while nursing ankle injury.

Utah Jazz vs. Miami Heat Head-to-Head

The Jazz and Heat split their two-game set during last year’s regular season, with both teams claiming a victory on their home floor.

The over-under also split 1-1 across that set, as Miami’s victory came in a low-scoring defensive battle (112-94) – while Utah’s came during a virtual track meet (124-116).

Key Players to Watch

Utah Jazz vs. Miami Heat Betting Conclusion

After extending their winning streak to three in Atlanta on Thursday night, the Jazz will head into Saturday’s affair as narrow road underdogs against the Heat at South Beach – marking the first time Utah has been an underdog all year.

I’ll take the under here, as the Heat’s previous matchup finished with a score of 95-78 following Lowry’s exit with an ankle injury – and if he is unable to go on Saturday, we’ll probably see Miami get caught in another low-scoring battle.
