Ready for Thursday’s baseball action with an MLB Parlay that pays out +467?  Follow along as MLB betting expert, Nick Galaida, breaks down his Parlay picks for Thursday, July 24.

Thursday’s MLB evening slate features only 4 games, but bettors could still have plenty of entertainment watching baseball today, with so many hittable pitchers scheduled to be on the bump.

As always, it is worth noting that straight wagers are a far more profitable long-term betting strategy than parlays. Still, parlays can be a fun way to get some extra action on a game to make things interesting! Be sure to check out the latest MLB Odds as well.

Eric Lauer UNDER 4.5 Strikeouts (+110)

Eric Lauer has gone over this market number in 5 of his last 6 turns through the rotation, but he owns a sub-par 9.2% swinging-strike rate in that span. His strikeout prowess has been primarily a result of earning chases at pitches out of the zone, but the Tigers rarely chase bad pitches against southpaws. Their biggest issue has been making contact on pitches _in_ the zone, which has plagued them recently. This isn’t as strong of a matchup for Lauer as it might appear on the surface.

Yu Darvish UNDER 4.5 Strikeouts (-165)

Yu Darvish has struggled mightily to generate swings-and-misses since he returned from the injured list. The league average swinging-strike rate is 10.8% – Darvish had an 8.6% swinging-strike rate in his most recent outing against the Nationals, and only a 7.2% swinging-strike rate in his start before that. The Cardinals are in a tough spot offensively, coming out of Coors Field without an off day, but they are still one of the more contact-oriented lineups in baseball. During the last 14 days, they have the 8th-lowest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching. The under should have a good chance to cash here, especially if Darvish once again has a shorter outing.

Padres vs. Cardinals OVER 4.5 - First 5 Innings (-105)

Both of these offenses have struggled against right-handed pitching in recent weeks, but there are some reasons to believe we could see runs on the board this evening in St. Louis. At first pitch, the temperature is forecasted to be 95 degrees, with the "feels like" temperature north of 100. Yu Darvish has also been one of the worst pitchers in baseball since returning from the injured list -- allowing multiple earned runs in each of his last 3 starts, despite only pitching into the 5th inning twice. Darvish is simply not missing many bats, and has posted a sub-9% swinging-strike rate in consecutive outings. Sonny Gray has struggled of late, too, allowing 4+ earned runs in 3 of his last 7 turns through the rotation. These offenses should have opportunities to do damage in this spot.
