On the second night of the NBA Play-In Tournament, we have two elimination games on deck as the Chicago Bulls will host the Miami Heat, and the Sacramento Kings will take on the Dallas Mavericks.

Our focus will be on the second game of tonight’s doubleheader, as the Kings boasted a 3-0 record against the disappointing Mavs in the regular season. However, these teams haven’t squared off since the first week of March, and plenty has changed since then.

Dallas will be without Kyrie Irving, who suffered a season-ending injury against the Kings in that very same March matchup, while Sacramento will be without Malik Monk. Although AD has not played against the Kings in a Mavs uniform, he played against Sacramento with the Los Angeles Lakers four times in the first half of the regular season. In those games, Anthony Davis averaged 24.5 points, 14.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game.

Simply put, he is a matchup nightmare for Domantas Sabonis. Ever since the acquisition of Sabonis, the Kings have lacked any interior defense, and this is primarily an issue against Anthony Davis, who can physically overwhelm Sabonis.

While Sacramento may resort to doubling AD to limit him, Dallas has plenty of shooting on the perimeter from the likes of Klay Thompson, Max Christie, PJ Washington, Spencer Dinwiddie, and Naji Marshall to make the Kings pay.
