Chicago White Sox vs. Chicago Cubs - Predictions

Score Prediction - White Sox 5, Cubs 3

The Cubs pulled the plug on their season at the trade deadline by dealing veterans Anthony Rizzo, Javier Baez, and Kris Bryant.

The White Sox would love to pull off the sweep of their cross-town rivals, coming off a shutout on Saturday afternoon.

Zach Davies has struggled over the last month for the Cubs and can't be trusted to back, even as a heavy home underdog.

Chicago White Sox vs. Chicago Cubs - Current Form

The Crosstown Classic has been all White Sox so far as the South Siders have won four of the last five matchups with the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

The White Sox blew a late 4-1 lead over the Cubs on Friday afternoon as the Pale Hose won in extra innings, 8-6 to cash as -200 favorites.

It was a little easier on Saturday for the Sox as Carlos Rodon struck out 11 batters in a 4-0 shutout of the Cubs.

The Sox remain up comfortably atop the American League Central at 65-46 as Tony LaRussa's club is in the mix for the top record in the league.

The Cubs slipped to 52-60 with the loss and fell to 8-14 since the All-Star break with half those wins against Arizona, who owns the worst record in the National League.

Pitching Matchup

White Sox: Dylan Cease (8-6, 3.92 ERA)

The right-hander is coming into his own in his third season with a career-high in victories. The Sox have won 13 of Cease's 22 starts, including the last two against the Royals.

Cease's ERA is over 3.5 runs higher on the road (5.91) than at home (2.20) this season. However, in Cease's five starts as a road favorite, the White Sox are 4-1 with three wins by two runs or more.

Cubs: Zach Davies (6-8, 4.79 ERA)

Since combining for a no-hitter against the Dodgers on June 24, Davies is winless in six of his last seven starts. The veteran right-hander was knocked around for seven runs in four innings of a 13-6 defeat at Colorado his last time out.

Davies owns a 4-4 record and 4.36 ERA at Wrigley Field this season, but the Cubs are 1-4 in his previous five home starts.
