Toronto Blue Jays vs. Seattle Mariners Betting Prediction

Prior to the results of game one Thursday night the Blue Jays are fourth in the AL East standings, 14 games behind the New York Yankees for first place. Toronto went 1-2 SU in their most recent series with the Athletics and have lost six of their last 10 games. Their offensive production has been a bit down over that stretch, averaging four runs per game. This is below their season average of 4.65 runs per game (7th). Toronto’s bullpen is allowing opponents 4.9 runs per game over their last 10, well above their season ERA of 4.08 (20th). The right-hander Ross Stripling (4-3 3.32 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Blue Jays Friday.

The Seattle Mariners are currently second in the AL West standings, 13 and a half games behind the Houston Astros for first place. The Mariners most recently swept the Padres in a two-game series and have won seven of their last 10 games. The offense has been their usual self over that stretch, averaging 4.1 runs per game. This is right on par with their season average of 4.01 runs per game (25th). The bullpen has really kicked things up a notch over their last 10, allowing opponents just 2.9 runs per game. This is better than their season ERA of 3.64 (6th). Right-handed pitcher George Kirby (2-3, 3.75 ERA) is expected to take the mound for Seattle Friday.

I like the Blue Jays to take game-two of this series. The Mariners have won five straight series, but that came against Oakland twice, Los Angeles Angels, Baltimore Orioles, and the San Padres most recently. San Diego is really the only respectable team in that group and I expect Toronto's offense to get back in track in this series after struggling as of late. Backing the Blue Jays in this matchup.

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Seattle Mariners – Current Form

The Blue Jays have dropped consecutive series to the Rays and the Athletics. Their best performance was on Wednesday, when they succeeded in limiting the Athletics to one run in the third contest of a three-game series.

Their worst performance in the last seven games was allowing 11 runs on Saturday, in the third match of the series played against the Tampa Bay Rays. Seattle continues to thrive, winning five out of their last six games against the Athletics and the Padres. The Athletics scored only one run against the Seattle Mariners on Saturday, which was Seattle’s best result in the last two series.

Seattle cruised past the San Diego Padres on Monday by plating eight runs in the first of a game of the series.
