Philadelphia 76ers vs. Toronto Raptors Predictions

After finishing 12th in the East with a record of 27-45 SU last year, Toronto bounced back with a surprisingly strong start to this season, as the Raptors opened with a modest 23-23 SU and 25-21 ATS stretch – despite getting tagged as underdogs in 26 of those contests.

However, Toronto played excellent down the stretch, considering the Raptors closed the regular season with a red-hot 25-11 SU and 22-14 ATS stretch, while scoring 112.2 OPPG and allowing just 108.3 DPPG during that timeframe.

On the other hand, Philadelphia stumbled out to a surprisingly slow start to the season, as the Sixers kicked things off with a lackluster 16-16 SU and 13-18-1 ATS stretch – while averaging just 105.4 OPPG during that span.

The Sixers have dominated since late December though, considering Philadelphia enters Game 4 riding a sturdy 38-15 SU run, while tallying 113 OPPG and allowing just 107.6 DPPG across that window.

I’ll take the under here, as Games 2 and 3 between these teams stayed comfortably under the total at an average of 207 PPG, despite an extra five minutes getting tacked onto Game 3 due to overtime (104-101 OT, U 215); and while their series opener cruised over the number with a score of 131-111 (O 216), the pace of Game 4 should ultimately lean towards the speed of their previous two matchups.

Philadelphia 76ers Betting Analysis

  • SU: 54-31
  • ATS: 40-43-2
  • O/U: 39-43-3

After finishing first in the East with a record of 49-23 SU last year, the Sixers posted a surprisingly slow start to this season, as Philadelphia went just 16-16 SU across their opening 32-game stretch – while averaging just 105.4 OPPG across that window.

Joel Embiid single-handedly carried the Sixers through the winter months though, considering Philadelphia closed the regular season with a solid 35-15 SU and 25-24-1 ATS run- propelled by Embiid averaging 32.5 PPG, 11.6 REB, 4.2 AST, and 1.5 BLK during that timeframe.

Fortunately, help has arrived in the form of James Harden, as Philly acquired the ten-time All-Star from Brooklyn at the trade deadline, and he’s made an immediate impact, highlighted by the Beard averaging 21 PPG and 10.5 AST across the Sixers’ 19-8 SU stretch since his debut – along with 18.3 PPG and 10 AST across the first three matchups of this series.

Toronto Raptors Betting Analysis

  • SU: 48-37
  • ATS: 47-38
  • O/U: 42-43

After last year’s disappointing 12th place showing, Toronto bounced back with a surprisingly decent start to this season, as the Raptors opened with a modest 23-23 SU and 25-21 ATS stretch – while getting tagged as underdogs in 26 of those contests.

Toronto has looked like a completely different squad since January though, considering the Raptors enter Game 4 riding a sturdy 25-14 SU and 22-17 ATS stretch. However, Toronto simply lacks the size necessary to compete with the Sixers down low, which has subsequently led to wide-open three-point shooters for Philly throughout the first three matchups of this series (46.2% 3FG).

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Toronto Raptors Head-to-Head

The Sixers won two of three regular-season matchups against Toronto last year, with all three contests staying under the total at an average of 205.7 PPG. The Raptors went 3-1 SU against Philly this season though, with three of those matchups cruising over the total at an average of 226.7 PPG, while the other stayed well under with a score of 93-88 (U 219).

However, the Sixers spanked Toronto by 15+ PTS at home in the opening two matchups of this series, with Game 1 soaring over the total at a score of 131-111 (O 215.5), while Game 2 stayed under with a score of 112-97 (U 217). Game 3 in Toronto was far more competitive though, as Embiid drilled a last-second three-pointer in overtime to seal the Sixers’ third straight victory and take a 3-0 lead (104-101 OT, U 215).

Key Players to Watch

  • PHI: Joel Embiid - C (30.6 PPG, 11.7 REB, 4.2 AST)
  • PHI: James Harden - PG (22 PPG, 7.7 REB, 10.3 AST)
  • TOR: Pascal Siakam - PF (22.8 PPG, 8.5 REB, 5.3 AST)
  • TOR: Fred VanVleet - PG (20.3 PPG, 4.4 REB, 6.7 AST)

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Toronto Raptors Betting Conclusion

After taking a 3-0 lead with a thrilling road victory on Wednesday night (W, 104-101 OT), the Sixers enter Saturday’s fourth matchup as 3.5-point road favorites over the Raptors at Scotiabank Arena, which is slightly heavier than the number Philly was favored by in Game 3 (PHI -2).

I’ll take the under here, as the Raptors kept Game 3 competitive by slowing down the pace and leaning heavily on defense, and while I still doubt Toronto will emerge victorious in Saturday’s matchup, the Raptors should ultimately control the flow of Game 4 and register another low point-total.
