Bengals vs Jaguars Prediction, Picks & Betting Odds for Monday Night Football Week 13

The Bengals have been on quite the rollercoaster this season. After stumbling out to a frustrating 1-3 record to open the year, Cincy seemed like it finally had the train back on the rails entering Week 10 as the Bengals went into their matchup against Houston following wins in five of their last six games to get to 5-4 – which included tough victories over the 49ers, Bills, and Seahawks during that span. 

However, somewhere along the way, Bengals QB Joe Burrow suffered a wrist injury during a thrilling 30-27 loss to Houston, and Burrow showed up to the stadium the following week wearing a soft cast on his throwing hand as he admirably tried to play through the pain in a primetime matchup against the Ravens in Week 11. 

Unfortunately though, Burrow was forced to make an early exit vs. Baltimore, and then opted to receive season ending wrist surgery – so in terms of title contention, that’s all she wrote for the Bengals this year. The Bengals are 0-3 in their last three games, and they’ve scored 20 points or less on less than 275 yards of total offense in both losses started by backup QB Jake Browning.

At this point, nobody wants to bet on Cincy until Burrow returns next year. According to VegasInsider’s Patrick Everson, the line for this contest originally opened at Jacksonville -7.5 at TwinSpires on Sunday night, and since then, it has climbed all the way to Jacksonville -9.5 with the book taking roughly 2-to-1 tickets and 4-to-1 money on the Jags as of Wednesday evening.

Personally, I find myself in a similar boat. If the Bengals manage to keep this game competitive, it will be a stunning turn of events. Jacksonville has played excellent football as of late. The Jaguars enter this contest following wins in seven of their last eight games, with over half of those victories coming by margins of 10+ points (4), and their only loss during that span coming to the 49ers. I’m laying the big number with Jacksonville on Monday night.

Cincinnati Bengals Betting Analysis

The Bengals’ upcoming stretch of games might be the only true audition that Browning gets as an NFL signal caller, and while he may not be the most athletic QB of the bunch, he certainly isn’t afraid to take off and run. In his senior year of college, Browning averaged six rush attempts per game. And in his first two appearances of this season for the Bengals, he’s averaged 3.5 carries for 24.5 rushing yards per game.

So for those of you searching for a way to bet on Cincy: Browning fell short of the 12.5-yard rushing mark in his most recent outing against Pittsburgh, as he finished with three carries for just nine yards. However, assuming that he continues to tally somewhere between 3-6 rush attempts per game (or more) moving forward, I believe his rushing line of 12.5 yards is too low. Browning could potentially clear this number with one scramble.

Jacksonville Jaguars Betting Analysis

Despite owning a record of 8-3, Jacksonville’s offense has been surprisingly inconsistent this season, highlighted by the Jaguars scoring 20 points or less in four of 11 contests, while also scoring 30 points or more in four of 11 outings.

Over the last few weeks, it has been reassuring to see Calvin Ridley and Evan Engram become more involved in the offense. But even with a nine-yard performance weighing down his numbers a little bit, Kirk still leads the team in receiving by a distant margin with 761 yards on the season, followed by Ridley at 663, and then Engram at 524.
