  • Opening point spread: Cowboys -3
  • Opening moneyline: Cowboys -190/Jets +160
  • Opening total: Over/Under 45 points scored
  • Time: 4:25 p.m. ET Sunday (CBS)

UPDATE 6 P.M. ET FRIDAY: Dallas is 9-point favorite at BetMGM, way up from the -3 opener late Sunday night. That's entirely due to New York losing QB Aaron Rodgers to a torn Achilles against Buffalo on Monday night.

BetMGM reopened the game Tuesday at Cowboys -7.5 and got bet up to -9.5 multiple times. It's been Dallas -9 since Wednesday night.

All that noted, early point-spread play isn't overwhelming on the Cowboys. Dallas is taking 54% of tickets/66% of money. More so, parlay bettors seem to think Dallas moneyline is akin to a free space on a bingo card.

"The Cowboys to win are a popular pick in parlays. An upset by the Jets would be great," BetMGM trader Seamus Magee said.

The total also saw a huge move, anticipating a significant drop-off from Rodgers to Zach Wilson. BetMGM opened at 45.5, reopened at 42 Tuesday morning and fell all the way to 38.5 by Wednesday night.

The Under is getting 82% of early bets/95% of early dollars.

UPDATE 1 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: This matchup got a shock to its system with Aaron Rodgers' season-ending Achilles injury. Rodgers lasted just four plays in his New York Jets debut Monday night against the Buffalo Bills.

Perhaps just as shocking, the Jets (1-0 SU and ATS) rallied to a 22-16 overtime victory as 2.5-point home 'dogs against the Bills.

But Tuesday morning, when Rodgers' status was confirmed, oddsmakers put little stock in Zach Wilson and the Jets for Week 2. Some books reopened the Cowboys at -7.5, up from -3.5 after Dallas' 40-0 rout of the New York Giants and from the -3 opener prior to that win.

Even the move to -7.5 wasn't enough. Bettors quickly drove the Cowboys to -8.5, then -9.5. TwinSpires Sportsbook reopened at Cowboys -8.5 and is now at -9.

Dallas is attracting 70% of early spread tickets/74% of early spread money.

"The public is all over the Cowboys vs. the Wilson-led Jets," Lucas said.

Books that opened this matchup before the Cowboys' Sunday night rout of the Giants had the total at 45.5 and reopened at 42 Tuesday morning. TwinSpires opened at 41.5 and is down to 39.5, with 58% of tickets/66% of money on the Under.

TwinSpires' moneyline stretched to Cowboys -455/Jets +330.

UPDATE 11 P.M. ET SUNDAY: The Cowboys (1-0 SU and ATS) opened in blazing fashion, bashing the host Giants 40-0 as 3-point road favorites. The Jets are still on the clock in Week 1, hosting the Buffalo Bills on Monday night.

Jets-Cowboys opened Dallas -3 just before the Cowboys-Giants game. Once that Sunday nighter commenced, Jets-Cowboys was taken off the NFL odds Week 2 market. The matchup will go back up Monday morning.

Regardless of the number Monday, this will be a much-hyped game.

"Public interest in the Cowboys is always high. But it's hard to quantify how much Aaron Rodgers will change the interest in the Jets, especially if he and the Jets look good [Monday] night," Michaelson said, before discussing the total. "We opened a point lower [than the lookahead] on the total because of the overall league environment. We saw a lot of Unders, so we anticipate sharp play on league-wide Unders, with teams giving their starters less and less time in the preseason.

Jets vs Cowboys Pick, Prediction

Action Network NFL betting expert Brandon Anderson offers this prediction:

Aaron Rodgers is done for the season, and Jets coach Robert Saleh says Zach Wilson is the guy at QB going forward. Both teams are riding high after big — and very different — primetime Week 1 wins, but both offensive lines are in rough shape. Dallas's star guards are both ailing, and the Jets line remains a mess.

Both defenses ranked top five in DVOA last year and looked the part again in Week 1. The Jets held the Bills to 16 points and forced four Josh Allen turnovers, and it's clear this defense will have to step up to give Wilson a chance.

Teams often respond favorably in the first game with a backup QB, and if the Jets stay close, it'll have to be because they keep it low scoring. And hey, if Wilson looks as bad as the Giants did last week, that probably hits the under, too. Week 2 unders with a total at 40 or below are 47-19-3 (71%) the past two decades.

Pick: Under 38.5 (-115)
