KANSAS CITY CHIEFS vs. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS BETTING PREDICTION

Indianapolis fell just one game short of reaching the playoffs last season, as Carson Wentz and the Colts traveled to Jacksonville with a postseason berth on the line in Week 18, and came up empty handed, which in turn, resulted in Wentz’ departure and the acquisition of long-time Falcons’ QB Matt Ryan. However, Indy’s offense has looked terrible with Ryan under-center to open the season, as the Colts averaged just 10 PPG across an ugly tie-loss combo against the Texans and Jaguars, which doesn’t bode well heading into a matchup against an offensive juggernaut like the Chiefs.

Kansas City, on the other hand, fell just three points short of reaching their third straight Super Bowl, as the Chiefs lost a heartbreaker to Cincy in last year’s AFC Championship Game (L, 27-24), and to no surprise, they returned seeking vengeance to open this season, as Kansas City kicked things off with back-to-back wins over the Cardinals and Chargers, while racking up 35.5 PPG on 404 YPG despite the departure of All-Pro wideout Tyreek Hill.

I’ll back Kansas City to cover here, as the Colts have scored 20 PTS or less in consecutive winless showings against Houston and Jacksonville to start the season, setting the stage for a pretty lopsided matchup against a Chiefs squad that’s scored 20+ PTS in 19 of their last 22 contests (29.9 PPG), and 27+ PTS in consecutive contests to open this season (35.5 PPG).

Score Prediction: Chiefs 28, Colts 20
Best Bet: Chiefs -5.5 (-110)

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Chiefs earned the second seed in the AFC with a record of 12-5 last season and came very close to making their third straight Super Bowl appearance, as Kansas City went to halftime of last year’s conference championship game with a 21-10 lead over Cincy, but the Bengals outscored them 14-3 in the second half and they eventually lost the contest in overtime (L, 27-24).

Kansas City’s offense was expected to take a considerable step back following the offseason departure of Hill, however, the Chiefs looked better than ever in their first two matchups of the season, highlighted by Patrick Mahomes and co. averaging 35.5 PPG on 404 YPG through Week 2.

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS BETTING ANALYSIS

Indianapolis finished second in the AFC South with a record of 9-8 last year, which fell half-a-game short of Pittsburgh for the final Wild Card spot in the conference, as the Colts simply needed a road win over the Jaguars in Week 18 to clinch a playoff berth, however, Indy’s offense scored just 11 points on 233 total yards with their season on the line, resulting in their third QB change in the last three seasons.

Indy’s offense has a brand new look with Ryan under center this season though, and not necessarily for the better, considering the Colts have scored just 10 PPG and turned the ball over five times across a pair of miserable performances against the Texans and Jaguars.
