SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS vs. LOS ANGELES RAMS BETTING PREDICTION

The Rams are off to a surprisingly slow start to the season, as the reigning Super Bowl champs averaged just 17.3 PPG on 310 YPG across a 3-3 stretch to open the year, which ranks 29th and 26th in the league respectively. And their defense hasn’t exactly been anything to write home about either, as the Rams also surrendered 22+ PTS in four of those six matchups.

The Niners, on the other hand, have certainly experienced their fair share of ups and downs to open the season, especially on the offensive side of the ball, as they racked up 29.3 PPG on 366 YPG in a trio of victories over the Seahawks, Rams, and Panthers, however, they also scored just 14.2 PPG on 347 YPG in a handful of ugly losses to the Bears, Broncos, and Falcons, and Chiefs.

I’ll back the Niners here, as it’s tough to predict which version of this squad is going to show up on any given Sunday, however, if there’s one constant, they typically own L. A., as San Francisco boasts a sturdy 7-1 record in their last eight matchups against the Rams. And while part of me still believes the Rams might turn things around, I doubt it’ll start this week after posting a double-digit home loss in their first meeting of the year against the Niners back in Week 4 (9 PTS, 257 YDS).

Score Prediction: Niners 24, Rams 20
Best Bet: Niners -1.5 (-110)

SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Niners stumbled out to a rough start with Trey Lance under center, as San Francisco scored just 10 points on 331 total yards in a wild slip-and-slide game against Chicago in Week 1, which was followed by another weak first-quarter performance against Seattle in Week 2, as 21 of the Niners’ 27 points came after Garoppolo’s entry.

The Niners defense absolutely dominated in their first five weeks of the season, as San Francisco allowed just 12.2 PPG on 249 YPG across an impressive 3-2 start. However, in their latest two affairs, the Niners surrendered 36 PPG on 409 YPG in consecutive losses, and with Garoppolo and co. averaging just 20.7 PPG on the other side, their defense really needs to start pulling its weight again, because this squad clearly isn’t built for a shootout.

LOS ANGELES RAMS BETTING ANALYSIS

The Rams won the NFC West with a record of 12-5 last season, and ultimately went on to win the Super Bowl. However, the Rams were never the flashiest squad, as their offense averaged 27 OPPG on 373 YPG, and defensively, they allowed 21.3 DPPG on 333 YPG, which is nothing to be ashamed of, but it doesn’t exactly scream title contender.

When healthy, Los Angeles is one of the most dangerous squads in the NFC, and in the grand scheme of things, Matt Stafford’s lingering elbow injury doesn’t concern me all that much. However, the injuries are starting to pile up for L. A.’s O-line, and it’s getting ugly quick, as the Rams have now scored 20 PTS or less in four-of-six matchups to open the season (17.3 PPG), while turning the ball over 13 times and surrendering 22 sacks in those affairs.
