Mississippi Senate Odds: Colom Flips Hyde-Smith on Kalshi and Polymarket

Mississippi Senate odds have flipped overnight: the Mississippi Senate election winner market now makes Democrat Scott Colom the favorite over Republican Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith, a reversal of the Mississippi Senate Vegas odds that held for most of October.

With roughly 95% of the vote counted, Colom holds a razor-thin lead, and neither Kalshi nor Polymarket is treating the race as settled.

Here's where the Mississippi Senate election winner market sits on both platforms as of Wednesday morning, November 4.

Mississippi Senate Election Winner Odds on Kalshi: Top Trading Contracts

Kalshi prices every contract between 1¢ and 99¢, which maps directly onto implied probability: a Yes share pays $1.00 if the outcome hits and nothing if it doesn't, and positions can be traded before the market resolves.

This Mississippi Senate odds board resolves by the winning party, and because a general congressional race in Mississippi has no runoff, the top vote-getter takes the seat.

One methodology note: the Kalshi board shows a single price for each candidate, so the No prices below are backed into by mirroring each candidate against the rival's quoted Yes. Independent Ty Pinkins is also on the ballot, so treat those derived No prices as approximations.

Scott Colom (YES 83¢ / NO 17¢)

Colom is now priced as the clear favorite at 83¢, an implied 83% chance, after sitting near 10% for most of October. Kalshi's tracker showed him ahead 462,821 to 462,778 with 95.6% of the vote counted, a margin of just 43 votes.

The move came as late returns arrived from Hinds County, where unofficial totals had Colom ahead 61,793 to 14,702, and from majority-Black counties in the Delta and Southwest Mississippi. He also led in DeSoto County, which Donald Trump won by 24 points in 2024, with 51.9% of the vote.

Cindy Hyde-Smith (YES 17¢ / NO 83¢)

Hyde-Smith is still priced at 17¢, which is far from dead given how little separates the two candidates. NBC News estimated about 44,000 votes were still outstanding and said she needed roughly 49% of them to catch Colom, and thousands of affidavit ballots also remain to be counted.

Her price also reflects how far the board has traveled. The incumbent sat near 90% on Kalshi for most of the past month, backed by Likely R ratings from Cook Political Report, Sabato's Crystal Ball and Inside Elections.

Mississippi Senate Vegas Odds on Polymarket: Top Trading Contracts

Polymarket also prices every contract between 1¢ and 99¢, with a Yes share paying $1.00 if the candidate wins and nothing if not.

The Mississippi Senate Vegas odds board here settles on the winner of the November 3 general election. Polymarket's tracker showed 95% of the vote counted, with Colom leading by about 2,100 votes, 461,370 to 459,201 (49.1% to 48.8%).

One methodology note: Polymarket only posts a Yes price for each individual candidate on this board, so the No prices below are backed into by mirroring each candidate against the rival's own Yes quote. With Pinkins also on the ballot, those derived prices are approximations.

Scott Colom (YES 85¢ / NO 15¢)

Colom's 85¢ price, an implied 85% chance, runs two cents richer than Kalshi, and the chart shows him jumping from roughly 10% for most of October to the mid-80s in a single move. Polymarket's tracker also shows a lead of about 2,100 votes, a much wider cushion than the 43 votes on Kalshi's, which likely explains some of the extra confidence.

A Colom win would be the eighth Senate seat Democrats flipped this cycle, according to The Hill, in a state that has not elected a Democratic senator since 1982.

Cindy Hyde-Smith (YES 15¢ / NO 85¢)

Hyde-Smith led for most of election night, and Trump rallied for her in Corinth on October 26 in a state he carried by more than 20 points in 2024.

Local reporting points to Republican turnout that did not match her 2018 and 2020 wins, and a 15¢ price still leaves room for the remaining ballots to swing the result.

How Kalshi and Polymarket Compare on the Mississippi Senate Election Winner

The two boards agree on the favorite and sit close on price. Colom is YES 83¢ on Kalshi against YES 85¢ on Polymarket, while Hyde-Smith is YES 17¢ on Kalshi and YES 15¢ on Polymarket, a two-cent gap on each side.

Both screenshots show one price per candidate, so each No is backed into from the rival's Yes. Colom's derived NO 17¢ on Kalshi and NO 15¢ on Polymarket simply mirror Hyde-Smith's Yes, and with Pinkins on the ballot they are approximations rather than separately traded quotes.

The bigger difference is the vote tracker behind each board. Kalshi's showed a 43-vote Colom lead while Polymarket's showed roughly 2,100 votes, so Polymarket traders are working from a wider cushion, which fits the slightly higher Colom price there.

Mississippi Senate Odds Price Analysis: Market Price Influencers

The headline on both charts is the size of the reversal. Hyde-Smith sat near 90% on both exchanges for most of October, and the board collapsed in a single move as late returns pushed Colom into the lead.

That move ran against the pre-election consensus. Cook Political Report, Decision Desk HQ, Sabato's Crystal Ball and Inside Elections all rated the race Likely R in the final days, Silver Bulletin had it Solid R, and Call the Map's October 26 forecast gave Hyde-Smith an 85-in-100 chance with a poll average of R+3.9 across three public polls.

The public polling was tighter than the ratings. A Change Research survey for the 365 Project, a Democratic firm, had Hyde-Smith up 43-40 on October 21-22 with Pinkins at 6%, while an August Data for Progress poll, from a progressive-leaning pollster, had her ahead 47-41. An April poll from the SPLC Action Fund, a group that opposes Hyde-Smith, put her lead at 3 points.

Pinkins polled at 6% in that Change Research survey but finished near 2% of the actual vote, roughly 19,900 votes in the counts reported overnight, which is more than the gap between the two leading candidates.

What could reprice the board next: the roughly 44,000 votes NBC News estimated were still outstanding, thousands of affidavit ballots, an Associated Press call, and any challenge if the margin stays this narrow. A close Mississippi Senate election winner market can swing hard on each new batch of returns.

Mississippi Senate Vegas Odds: Final Thoughts

This is a market that spent a month pricing a comfortable Hyde-Smith win and then repriced in hours. Both exchanges now treat Colom as the favorite, Kalshi at 83¢ and Polymarket at 85¢, even though the Mississippi Senate Vegas odds rest on a margin that ranges from 43 to roughly 2,100 votes depending on the tracker.

The one variable to watch is the final tally: the outstanding ballots, the affidavit count, and whether the race gets called.

Mississippi Senate Odds FAQs

What are the current Mississippi Senate odds?

Scott Colom is trading at 83¢ on Kalshi and 85¢ on Polymarket, an implied 83% to 85% chance, while Cindy Hyde-Smith sits at 17¢ on Kalshi and 15¢ on Polymarket.

Has a Mississippi Senate election winner been called?

Not in the morning reports on November 4. Colom led with about 95% of the vote counted, by 43 votes on Kalshi's tracker and by about 2,100 votes on Polymarket's, and the race was still described as too close to call.

How do the Mississippi Senate Vegas odds compare on Kalshi and Polymarket?

The two boards are two cents apart. Colom is 83¢ on Kalshi and 85¢ on Polymarket, and Hyde-Smith is 17¢ on Kalshi and 15¢ on Polymarket. The No prices on both boards are backed into from the rival's Yes price, so they are approximations with Ty Pinkins on the ballot.

What did polls show before the Mississippi Senate election?

Public polling showed a single-digit Hyde-Smith lead. Change Research, a Democratic firm, had her up 43-40 on October 21-22, Data for Progress had her up 47-41 in August, and Call the Map's poll average was R+3.9 across three public polls.

Why did the Mississippi Senate odds flip so sharply?

Hyde-Smith led for most of election night, then late returns from Hinds County and majority-Black counties in the Delta and Southwest Mississippi moved Colom into a narrow lead. Both exchanges repriced from roughly 90% for Hyde-Smith to more than 80% for Colom.

Is there a runoff in the Mississippi Senate race?

No. Because this is a general congressional race, there is no runoff and the top vote-getter takes the seat.

What could change the market before the race is called?

NBC News estimated about 44,000 votes were still outstanding, thousands of affidavit ballots remain to be counted, and an Associated Press call or a challenge to the count could also move prices.

How do I trade the Mississippi Senate election winner market?

Sign up on Kalshi or Polymarket, fund your account, and buy a Yes or No share on the contract you want, then hold it to resolution or sell it back to the market before the race is decided.
