Pittsburgh vs. Miami Picks, Predictions, Odds

Either the Pittsburgh Panthers or the Miami Hurricanes will claim a share of the ACC regular season championship on Saturday night. Pittsburgh, Miami, and the Virginia Cavaliers are all tied at the top of the standings at 14-5 coming into the regular season finale, but it's extremely unlikely that the Cavaliers lose considering they are playing the lowly Louisville Cardinals in Charlottesville.

This game is extremely important for the Panthers as they can't feel confident about their place in the NCAA Tournament just yet. Pittsburgh has just one quality non-conference win, and the Panthers have lost to Vanderbilt, Florida State, and Notre Dame this season.

On Saturday, March 4, 2023, the ACC regular season will come to a close. The Miami Hurricanes will look to claim their second regular season championship when they host the Pittsburgh Panthers on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 6 p.m. ET on the ACC Network from the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Florida.

Pittsburgh Panthers vs. Miami Hurricanes Betting Prediction

When these teams met in the Steel City at the end of January, the Miami Hurricanes were in control almost the entire way. Miami was up eight points with just under two-and-a-half minutes remaining in the game, but Pittsburgh went on an 11-0 run over the last 150 seconds to pull out an improbable victory. Isaiah Wong missed two shots and turned the ball over twice for the Hurricanes in the final 75 seconds, and he will want to atone for that performance. Expect Wong to have a big game in leading Miami to a victory over Pittsburgh on Saturday night in south Florida.

Pittsburgh Panthers Betting Analysis

Jeff Capel III has needed some time to rebuild this program after the disastrous Kevin Stallings era. Stallings was seen as a bad hire immediately after he was announced as the replacement for Jamie Dixon, and the Panthers have not made it to the NCAA Tournament since 2016. Stallings went 0-18 in ACC play during the 2017-18 season, so Capel has had to spend a lot of time starting from scratch.

Ole Miss transfer Blake Hinson has been a big boon after missing the last two years due to injury. Hinson is tops on the team with 15.8 PPG and 6.4 RPG. He is making 38% of his three-point attempts, and he had a double-double in Wednesday's loss to Notre Dame. Pittsburgh has had to play Hinson more than expected because of John Hugley IV's absence, and that has also led to more playing time for Federiko Federiko.

Nelly Cummings and Jamarius Burton are a very good guard tandem in that they consistently set up their teammates with good looks. Cummings is averaging 4.9 APG, and Burton is averaging 4.4 APG with 15.6 PPG as Pittsburgh's leading scorer. Burton tends to get his best looks inside the perimeter despite being a guard, and he is making 52.7% of his field goals on the season. This isn't a deep team with just six players averaging more than 10 MPG, so that's something to watch if Pitt gets in foul trouble.

Miami Hurricanes Betting Analysis

This would be the second ACC title for the Miami Hurricanes since joining the conference provided they beat the Pittsburgh Panthers on Saturday. Miami is coming off a very disappointing defeat at the hands of Florida State last weekend, as the Seminoles erased a 25-point second half deficit in order to knock off the Hurricanes. A win in that game would have left them with the opportunity to claim a full title here, but they also benefited from Pittsburgh losing to a bad Notre Dame team earlier in the week.

Isaiah Wong will be looking to prove that his late game jitters against Pittsburgh in January were a fluke. Wong is Miami's leading scorer with 16.2 PPG, and he is a very efficient shooter for a guard as he is making over 45% of his field goals and nearly 39% of his threes. Wong has performed much better at home than he has on the road this year, so that bodes well for Miami in this game.

Nigel Pack, Wooga Poplar, and Bensley Joseph are all above average three-point shooters alongside Wong. Pack is the best of the bunch, making 41% of his threes, and that is a big part of why Miami has the 12th best offense in the country. Norchad Omier has been a very reliable big man in a lot of four-guard lineups, and he has played above his height too.
