Home Runs Odds
Jonathan Aranda to Hit a Home Run (+350 | FanDuel) vs. (SP: Nick Martinez)
For our first pick, we're targeting a favorite of ours: Jonathan Aranda.
Aranda has been one of the best pure hitters in baseball:
He gets a more advantageous split against a gettable righty in Nick Martinez. Aranda is slugging .521 with an impressive .919 OPS, with all 11 of his dingers coming against the same side.
The Reds will trot out Martinez, who is nothing more than an innings-eater. Martinez has generally been able to limit hard contact, but he has still relinquished 15 long balls on the season.
With FanDuel Sportsbook hanging +350 odds, it's a number that has plenty of value.
Seiya Suzuki to Hit a Home Run (+450 | bet365) vs. (SP: Adrian Houser)
For our final pick of this Friday's pick, we'll turn to the potent Cubs lineup in the Crosstown Classic. Seiya Suzuki has enjoyed a career year up to this point with 26 homers (good for 7th in the MLB).
According to Baseball Savant, Suzuki is in the 84th percentile or better in terms of xSLG, average EV, barrel%, and hard hit%.
Suzuki has been just as effective against both righties and lefties, with 18 of his 26 dingers coming against right-handers.
On the bump, the White Sox will roll out their best starter in the 2025 season: Adrian Houser.
Houser's surface-level statistics are impressive, as he boasts a 1.89 ERA. However, if you look past that, you can see he's bound for regression. Houser's 1.23 WHIP, as well as his mediocre analytical profile (15th percentile in hard-hit% and 9th percentile in whiff rate), suggests that he may struggle to maintain this level.
And the regression may already be underway, as he gave up 10 hits in 4 ⅓ innings against an abysmal Pirates lineup in his last start.
bet365 Sportsbook's +450 number is too good to pass up for a guy on pace to eclipse 40 home runs in a nice situational spot.
