Paul Goldschmidt (STL) Over 1.5 Total Bases (+100)

Goldy has been one of the strongest plays of the season, and I’m very surprised we’re getting +100 odds today. Goldschmidt has plenty of experience against Cubs pitcher Kyle Hendricks batting .317 (13-41) with 9 of those 13 hits being doubles. Hendricks is currently 2-6 with a .543 ERA this season through 13 starts, his pitch arsenal consists of 31% changeup, 30% sinker, and 28% 4seam fastball. Goldy hits .304/.429/.310 vs those 3 pitches, anytime I see a pitcher with a high sinker percentage I always target him. He’s currently second in the league batting .340 and that improves to .402 at home this year. 

J.D. Martinez (BOS) Over 0.5 Hits/Julio Rodriguez (SEA) Over 0.5 Hits (-115)

Bit of a stark contrast here between the two players. J.D is the definition of a professional hitter, a veteran who is having success in almost any matchup. Julio Rodriguez is a 21 year old electric rookie that is batting .273 with 9 home runs, 33 RBI’s, and 19 stolen bases. Julio is facing off against Michael Lorenzen who he’s currently 2-3 against, Loreznan throws plenty of pitches currently at 28% sinker, 21% 4 seamer, 18% changeup, and 18% slider.

Julio has had success against those pitches batting .343/.317/.345/.208, Lorenzon also throws a cutter 10% of the time which he crushes batting .455. Rodriguez has been playing very well, batting .379 over his last 7 games. JD Martinez is currently .326 on the season and .370 on the road this season. He’s currently 3-6 in his career vs Cal Quantrill, crushing his top 3 pitches. Martinez has consistently been one of the best hitters in baseball this season, I think we’re getting him at a great price here despite a couple slower games.
