New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros Betting Analysis

The New York Yankees visit the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park on Thursday, June 30, 2022 for the first of a one-game series.

The Yankees currently lead the American League East with a record of 56-20. The Astros rank first in the American League West standings with a record of 47-27, which includes an impressive 20-11 mark at home.

New York Yankees vs. Houston Astros Betting Prediction

he New York Yankees enter this matchup first in the AL East standings with a 13-game lead over the second place Toronto Blue Jays. The Yankees went 3-0 SU in their most recent series with the Oakland Athletics and have won seven of their last 10 games. New York was great on both sides of the ball against the Athletics, scoring 16 runs throughout the series while holding Oakland to nine runs. This is a common trend for the Yankees who lead the league in runs per game (5.03) and have the league's best ERA (2.93). The right fielder Aaron Judge has played a significant role in the offensive success this season with a batting average of .290 (82-283), 29 home runs, and 59 RBIs.

Houston is currently first in the AL West standings with a 11-game lead over the second place Texas Rangers. The Astros most recently swept the New York Mets in a two-game series and have won seven of their last 10 games. Houston held the Mets to just one run throughout the series while scoring 11. This is nothing new for an Astros bullpen that has a team ERA of 2.98 (2nd). The offense has been a bit inconsistent this season, but still average a respectable 4.3 runs per game. Bettors should keep an eye on left fielder Yordan Alvarez status who is listed as day-to-day and being evaluated for a concussion after exiting Wednesday’s game. Alvarez has been excellent this season with a batting average of .316 (75-237), 23 home runs, and 56 RBIs.

These two teams met just last week at Yankee Stadium for a four-game series, each team winning two games. I like the Yankees to win Thursday’s matchup with Luis Severino (4-2) expected to take the mound. Severino was solid in last week's outing against Houston, striking out seven batters in 6.0 innings while giving up five hits and three runs. The Astros will send Luis Garcia (5-5) to the mound. Garcia has been decent this season with an ERA of 3.68 but has struggled against quality offenses. I expect that trend to continue here and for the Yankees to see success against Garcia.
