St. Louis Cardinals vs. Atlanta Braves Betting Prediction

The Cardinals enter this matchup second in the NL Central, three and a half games behind the Milwaukee Brewers for first place. St. Louis will look to bounce back in game-three of this series after losing back-to-back to the Atlanta Braves. St. Louis has struggled as of late, losing six of their last 10 games. The offense has been decent over that stretch, averaging 4.1 runs per game. This is still below their season average of 4.70 runs per game. The bullpen has not seen the same success with a team ERA of 4.40 over their last 10 games. This is a bit above their season ERA of 3.84.  The right-hander Miles Mikolas (5-6, 2.61 ERA) is expected to take the mound for the Cardinals on Wednesday.

Atlanta is currently second in the NL East standings, three and a half games behind the New York Mets for first place. The Braves have been on a roll as of late, winning seven of their last 10 games including back-to-back games in this series. Their offense has been great over that stretch, averaging 5.0 runs per game. This is above their season average of 4.74 runs per game. Atlanta’s bullpen has been solid as well with a team ERA of 3.6 over their last 10. This is a bit better than their season ERA of 3.72. Left-handed pitcher Max Fried (8-2, 2.66 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Braves on Wednesday.

With Atlanta’s ace Max Fried taking the mound Wednesday I like the Braves to take game-three of this series. Fried has been too good and with the Cardinals struggling over their last 10, I think it could be a long day for St. Louis at the plate. The Brave's offense has also been cooking and while Mikolas has been solid, I expect the Cardinals bullpen to collapse at some point. Not much value in the Braves moneyline so will be backing Atlanta to cover the runline.

Score Prediction: Braves 5, Cardinals 3
Best Bet: Braves -1.5

They limited the Cincinnati Reds to just one run in the first contest of the series on Friday.
