The Yankees send LHP Jordan Montgomery to the hill against the Mets’ sixth-ranked scoring offense on Tuesday night (4.66 RSPG), who’s having the best campaign of his six-year career, highlighted by a solid 3.24 ERA and 1.05 WHIP across 19 starts, despite compiling a lackluster record of 3-2 on the season.

On the flip side, the Mets send RHP Taijuan Walker to the mound against the Yanks’ top-ranked scoring offense tonight (5.36 RSPG), who’s also having an excellent campaign sitting 7-2 with a 2.55 ERA across 16 starts (1.09 WHIP), which is an enormous step up from his career 49-47 record and 3.82 ERA (1.22 WHIP).

I’ll back the Mets here, as Montgomery has yielded a 4.29 ERA and 1.26 WHIP across his last six outings for the Yankees, and he’s 0-2 with a 7.11 ERA in three careers starts against the Mets (1.89 WHIP); setting the stage for an unfavorable matchup against the Mets and Walker, who’s 7-2 with a 2.23 ERA across his last 13 outings (1.05 WHIP).
