New York Yankees vs. Seattle Mariners Betting Analysis

The Yankees will visit Mariners at T-Mobile Park for the first of a three-game set on Monday, August 8, 2022.

The Yankees currently lead the American League East with a record of 70-39. However, New York has struggled away from Yankee Stadium, highlighted by their 29-24 mark on the road. The Mariners enter Monday’s matchup positioned second in the American League West standings with records of 59-51 overall and 29-25 at home, which trails the division leading Astros by 11 games.

New York Yankees vs. Seattle Mariners Betting Prediction

The New York Yankees enter this matchup first in the AL East standings with a nine and half-game lead over the second place Toronto Blue Jays. The Yankees have been in a tiny slump as of late, getting swept in their most recent three-game series against St. Louis and losing six of their last 10 games. The bullpen has given up more runs than usual over that stretch, giving up 4.9 runs per game compared to their season ERA of 3.33 (3rd). The offense has remained consistent and have scored a league leading 579 runs this season. Bettors should keep an eye on first baseman Anthony Rizzo who was out in the Cardinals series with a back injury. Right-handed pitcher Jameson Taillon (10-2 SU, 3.96 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Yankees Monday.

Seattle is currently second in the AL West standings, 11.0 games behind the Houston Astros for first place. Good news for the Mariners is they have a two-game lead over Baltimore for the third wild card spot. Seattle most recently went 2-2 SU against the Angels and are 5-5 SU over their last 10 games. The inconsistency on offense continues to hurt this team, but with an adjustment or two could be set up for a run into the playoffs. The Mariners bullpen has been the focal point of this team throughout the season and have the sixth best team ERA in the league (3.67). The right-hander Logan Gilbert (10-4 SU, 3.09 ERA) is expected to take the mound Monday versus the Yankees.

These two teams met less than a week ago for a three-game series with the Mariners winning two of those games. I like New York in game-one of this series after being swept by the Cardinals. Gilbert struggled in his last outing against the Yankees, giving up seven hits and six runs in 5.1 innings of work and New York should see similar success in this one. Backing the Yankees moneyline.

New York Yankees vs. Seattle Mariners – Current Form

The Yankees grabbed three of four games last Sunday against the Kansas City Royals, but were tripped up by the Cardinals last Sunday. Their best performance was on Thursday, when they limited the Royals to scoring no runs in the first contest of a four-game series. Game third with the St. Louis Cardinals were New York’s worst in the last seven. They allowed a total of 12 runs. The Mariners lost 3-1 against the Astros last Sunday, but then went 1-3 to the Angels in their next game on Sunday. The Angels scored only one run against the Seattle Mariners on Saturday, which was Seattle’s best result in the last two series.

The Mariners were the weakest on Friday, when the Houston Astros scored 11 runs in game two of a four-contest series against the Astros.
