San Francisco Giants vs. San Diego Padres Betting Prediction

San Francisco is currently third in the NL West standings, 22.0 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers for first place and seven games back from a wild card position. The Giants most recently beat the Athletics two straight games and are 5-5 SU over their last 10 games. The offense has been a bit inconsistent over that stretch but have been solid throughout the season with 494 total runs scored (9th). Second baseman Wilmer Flores has been a big part of that success with a batting average of .249 (87-349), 16 home runs, and 56 RBIs. The bullpen has given up 4.2 runs per game over their last 10, a bit above their season ERA of 3.93 (17th). Southpaw Alex wood (7-9 SU, 4.42 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Giants Monday.

The Padres are currently second in the NL West standings, 15 and half games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers for first place but do hold a two-game lead over the Brewers for the third NL wild card spot. San Diego most recently lost three straight against the Dodgers but have won six of their last 10 games. The offense failed to get anything going against Los Angeles with just four total runs scored throughout the series. Trading for Juan Soto has yet to make a noticeable difference as he is still looking for his first RBI with his new team. The bullpen struggled as well, allowing 20 total runs but have been solid this season with a team ERA of 3.81 (11th). Left-handed pitcher Blake Snell (4-5 SU, 4.16 ERA) is expected to take the mound for the Padres Monday.

San Diego has won six of 10 matchups against the Giants this season. I like that trend to continue and for the Padres to win game one of this series. The Giants bullpen has not been great this season and I think San Diego’s offense will finally start to be a bit more productive. Not much value in San Diego moneyline so will be playing the runline in this matchup.
