Minnesota Twins vs. New York Yankees Betting Analysis

The Twins and the Yankees will square off at Yankee Stadium for the second of a four-game set on Tuesday, September 6, 2022.

The Twins are 68-65 overall and 28-36 on the road, which positions Minnesota second in the American League Central standings and trails the division leading Cleveland Guardians by one game. The Yankees sit in first place of the American League East with a 81-54 overall record, which has been helped by a robust 46-20 mark at home.

Minnesota Twins vs. New York Yankees Betting Prediction

The Minnesota Twins enter this matchup second in the AL Central standings, one game behind the Cleveland Guardians for first place. The Twins lost game one of this series 5-2 and are 6-4 SU over their last 10 games. Winning the division is the Twins best chance to make the postseason as they currently sit six and a half games behind the Toronto Blue Jays for a Wild Card berth. Minnesota struggled to get much going on Monday against the Yankees with just six hits and two runs scored. This is well below their season average of 4.39 runs scored per game. The bullpen didn’t have the best of days either, giving up seven hits and five runs. This is right around one run above their season ERA of 3.99. Right-handed pitcher Joe Ryan (10-7, 3.88 ERA) is scheduled to take the mound for the Twins on Tuesday.

New York is currently first in the AL East standings with a five-game lead over the second-place Tampa Bay Rays. The Yankees have won back-to-back after Monday’s win but have struggled as of late with a 4-6 SU record over their last 10 games. While they still lead their division, the Yankees have not looked the same since returning from All-Star break. Runs have been down on the offensive side of the ball and the bullpen no longer seems unbeatable. Even the sportsbooks have taken notice as the Yankees are now listed as the fourth favorite team to win the World Series (+500 at  Fanduel) behind the Dodgers (+280), Astros (+380), and Mets (+480). With that being said, this team is still stacked from top to bottom and would not be surprised to see them get this ship back on the right track. Yankees ace Gerrit Cole (10-7, 3.28 ERA) is expected to start Tuesday.

I like the Yankees to take care of business again on Tuesday with Cole taking the mound. The Twins have scored three runs or less in three of their last four games and I do not think they will have much success with their bats in this one either. No value in playing the Yankees moneyline, so the runline is the play here.

Score Prediction: Yankees 5, Twins 3
Best Bet: Yankees -1.5 (+115)
