New York Mets vs. Milwaukee Brewers Betting Analysis

The Brewers host the Mets in the first contest of a three-game set at American Family Field on Monday, September 19th.

New York leads the National League East at 93-55, putting together a 43-29 record when playing away from Citi Field. Milwaukee begins Monday's action in second place of the National League Central. The Brewers own a 78-68 record and sit eight games in back of the Cardinals for first place, while posting a 41-28 mark at home.

New York Mets vs. Milwaukee Brewers Betting Prediction

After losing to the Yankees on Sunday the Brewers are now second in the NL Central standings, eight games behind the St. Louis Cardinals for first place. Milwaukee is also just two games behind the Phillies for the third NL Wild Card spot. They most recently went 2-1 SU in a three-game series with the Yankees and have won seven of their last 10 games. The offense has been solid over that stretch, averaging 4.8 runs per game. This is a bit better than their season average of 4.53 runs per game. Milwaukee's bullpen has not played quite as well over their last 10 games with a team ERA of 4.5. This is above their season ERA of 3.94 (18th). The right-hander Corbin Burnes (10-7, 2.97 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Brewers on Monday.

The Mets enter this matchup atop the NL East standings with a one game lead over the second place Atlanta Braves. New York swept the Pirates in their most recent four game series and have won six of their last 10 games. The Mets have managed to hang onto the division lead despite the Braves playing lights out in the second half of the season. New York’s offense has been solid throughout the season with a batting average of .258 (5th), on base percentage of .331 (2nd), slugging percentage of .409 (10th) and have scored 695 total runs (5th). The bullpen has been consistent this season as well with a WHIP of 1.18 (6th) and team ERA of 3.51 (7th). Right-handed pitcher Max Scherzer (9-4, 2.26 ERA) is expected to take the mound for the Mets Monday.

I like the Mets to take game one of this series with Max Scherzer taking the mound. Scherzer will make his first appearance since injuring his left oblique on September 4th, but I don’t expect that to be too much of a factor here. I also don’t hate the under in this matchup with how well Burnes has pitched for Milwaukee but it’s a bit too low for comfort at the moment. Backing the Mets moneyline here as Scherzer should put New York in a good position to win this matchup.

Score Prediction: Mets 4, Brewers 3
