New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays Betting Prediction

After defeating the Blue Jays in game two of this series on Tuesday the Yankees have officially clinched the AL East division. With just eight games remaining on their schedule New York now has the luxury of resting players before the postseason if they so choose. New York has been on a roll as of late, winning 12 of their last 15 games. The offense has been a nightmare for opposing pitchers this season as the Yankees have a batting average of .242 (16th), on base percentage of .325 (5th), slugging percentage of .428 (4th) and have scored 777 total runs (2nd). New York’s bullpen has been great this season as well with a WHIP of 1.12 (3rd) and team ERA of 3.34 (3rd). The right-hander Gerrit Cole (12-7, 3.49 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Yankees Wednesday.

Although Toronto can no longer win the AL East division, they are still in an outstanding position to make the playoffs as they currently sit atop the AL Wild Card race. The Blue Jays have been playing solid in the second half of the season and are 5-5 SU over their last 10 games. The offense has been one of the best in the league this season with a batting average of .261 (1st), on base percentage of .326 (3rd), slugging percentage of .428 (3rd) and have scored 733 total runs (6th). Toronto’s bullpen has not been as impressive as their offense but are still getting the job done with a WHIP of 1.25 (11th) and team ERA of 3.94 (16th). Right-handed pitcher Mitch White (1-6, 5.12 ERA) is expected to start Wednesday.

This game is a bit tricky with New York clinching the division on Tuesday. Not to say they aren’t going to try in this matchup, but Toronto will be more motivated than the Yankees until their Wild Card berth is secured. With that being said, the Yankees have a huge pitching advantage in this matchup and we can assume Aaron Judge will stay in the lineup until he hits his 61st home run. Backing New York in game-three of this series.
