SAN DIEGO PADRES at NEW YORK METS BETTING PREDICTION

The San Diego Padres grabbed a 1-0 lead in this series after a commanding win over the Mets on Friday. The offense tore RHP Max Scherzer apart and finished the day with eight hits, four home runs, and seven runs scored. The Padres offense continues to get better and better after struggling in the first half of the season. LHP Yu Darvish had an excellent outing, going seven innings while giving up seven hits and one run. San Diego’s bullpen has been pitching well all season with a team ERA of 3.81 (11th). LHP Blake Snell (8-10, 3.38 ERA) is expected to start Saturday.

The Mets lost a key Game 1 Friday, but back-to-back wins at home will advance them to the next round. New York finished the day with seven hits and one run. Not a horrible day at the plate, but they were just 1-10 with runners in scoring position. Finding ways to bring runners in during the postseason is crucial. Scherzer had one of his worst playoff outings of his career, giving up seven hits, four home runs, and seven runs. This is uncharacteristic for a Mets bullpen that has been great this season. RHP Jacob deGrom (5-4, 3.08 ERA) is scheduled to start Saturday.

I like the Mets in Game 2 of this series. The offense has been too good this season to put up another dud performance like they did on Friday. Also, Snell should not see as much success as Darvish did. Backing the Mets at home here in Game 2.

Score Prediction: Mets 5, Padres 3
