Data Analysis: The Most Googled Rookies & Players Of The 2024-25 NBA Season

After the NBA Finals, VegasInsider has analyzed Google searches of the whole season, including the playoffs and the finals (October 2024 - June 2025) to find out who have been the most searched-for NBA players, as well as the most googled NBA rookies in all the American states.

THE MOST GOOGLED ROOKIES

According to the results of the analysis, which compared the Google searches of all the rookies, the most searched-for rookie of the 2024-25 NBA season in the most states was Bronny James (LA Lakers) - Bronny James was the most googled rookie in 47 states.

The three states whose most googled rookie differed were Kentucky, Tennessee, and Indiana.

Kentucky’s most googled rookie turned out to be Reed Sheppard (Houston Rockets), who was born in London, Kentucky, and went to the University of Kentucky.

Tennessee's most searched-for rookie was Dalton Knecht (LA Lakers), who transferred to the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and previously played for the Volunteers.

Indiana’s most googled rookie was Zach Edey (Memphis Grizzlies), who went to Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

When looking at the overall average monthly searches of the NBA rookies during the NBA season (October 2024 - June 2025), once again, Bronny James (LA Lakers) was the most searched-for rookie, getting 2,240,000 worldwide monthly searches and 1,500,000 monthly searches in the United States.

The second most googled NBA rookie was Dalton Knecht (LA Lakers), with an average of 823,000 monthly worldwide searches, followed by Zach Edey (Memphis Grizzlies) and Jared McCain (Philadelphia 76ers), who are tied for third place with 550,000 average monthly worldwide searches.

THE MOST GOOGLED TOP 100 PLAYERS

After comparing the Google searches of the top 100 players from the 2024-25 NBA season, the most googled player was LeBron James (LA Lakers), who was the most searched-for player in 44 states.

The states whose most googled NBA players differed were Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, North Dakota, and Minnesota.

Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves) was the most googled player in North Dakota & Minnesota.

Meanwhile, Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics) was the most searched-for player in Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire & Massachusetts.

When looking at the overall average monthly searches of the top 100 NBA players during the NBA season (October 2024 - June 2025), once again, LeBron James (LA Lakers) was the most searched-for player, getting 7,480,000 worldwide monthly searches and 3,350,000 monthly searches in the United States.

The second most googled player was Luka Doncic (Dallas Mavericks at the start of the season, now with the LA Lakers) with an average of 3,350,000 monthly searches worldwide and 1,830,000 monthly searches in the United States.

Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors) was the third most googled player, with an average of 3,350,000 monthly searches worldwide and 1,220,000 monthly searches in the United States.

  • The search volumes of different American states were compared through Google Trends (October 2024 - June 2025)
  • Players whose Google searches were compared (separately): 50+ rookies of the 2024-25 NBA season, the top 100 NBA players of the season according to multiple listicles
