Betting on the Memphis Grizzlies

The young Memphis Grizzlies have been a hot ticket, both in the arena and at the betting window.

Memphis Grizzlies Franchise History

The Grizzlies were born into the NBA as part of the NBA’s expansion into Canada in 1995. Originally the Vancouver Grizzlies, they relocated to Memphis in 2001.

For nearly a decade after its inception, the Grizzlies franchise struggled mightily, coming in last in its division in six of its first eight seasons.

In the 2003-2004 season, the Grizzlies finally made the playoffs, sparking a run of three straight playoff appearances, led by Pau Gasol.

In the early 2010s, Pau’s brother, Marc, alongside Grizzlies legends Zach Randolph, Rudy Gay, and Mike Conley, established the team as one of the Western Conference’s best.

That core never won a title, but it is responsible for the most successful seasons in Grizzlies’ franchise history.

Now, young stud Ja Morant and his teammates are revitalizing the Beale Street ballers’ fanbase.

🐻 Betting on the Memphis Grizzlies in Tennessee 🐻

Sports betting is legal in Tennessee through online wagering only. As a result, the titans of the sportsbook industry that fans know so well – FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, and more – offer their apps to Tennessee bettors.

A point spread bet is a common wager placed on an NBA game and works in the following way:

Let’s say the Memphis Grizzlies are hosting the San Antonio Spurs and the spread is:

  • Grizzlies -7.5
  • Spurs +7.5

The Grizzlies are favored to win the game by 7.5 points. Therefore, they must win by at least 8 points to cover the spread.

If the Grizzlies win by less than 8, or lose, the Spurs cover the spread.

From a Spurs bettor’s perspective, the Spurs need to lose by less than 7.5 or win outright.

Grizzlies’ Partnerships with Legal Sportsbooks

In November of 2020, the Grizzlies struck a multi-year deal with FanDuel Sportsbook, making the team FanDuel’s first official NBA partner.

The most noteworthy components of the deal included digital and in-arena advertising for FanDuel during Grizzlies games as well as free bets for Tennessee residents upon signup.

In 2021, the Grizzlies partnered with WynnBET. The partnership included many of the same features as the FanDuel deal, with one notable distinction.

The Memphis Grizzlies mobile app now offers Buzzer Beater Picks, a free-to-play game in which fans make predictions during Grizzlies games in order to climb a leaderboard and win real prizes courtesy of WynnBET.
