Eagles vs Seahawks Prediction, Picks & Betting Odds for Monday Night Football Week 15

Matchup Spread Total Moneyline

Not too long ago, Philly appeared to be on a beeline toward the No. 1 seed in the NFC. The Eagles entered their Week 13 matchup against San Francisco boasting a record of 10-1, which at the time, was the best record in the division and conference by a comfortable two-game margin – and everything seemed to be going their way coming off an impressive trio of victories against Dallas, Kansas City and Buffalo.

However, the tables have turned on them rather quickly over the last few weeks, as the Eagles now enter this week’s matchup following back-to-back blowout losses – one in a road rematch against the Cowboys, and the other in a home visit from the 49ers – officially putting Philly on “fraud watch” in the eyes of many football fans and bettors.

According to VegasInsider’s Patrick Everson, the SuperBook closed the lookahead line for this contest at Philly -5.5 prior to kickoff of Eagles vs. Cowboys last week, and then eventually reopened the line two points shorter at -3.5 in the aftermath of a second straight ugly loss for the Birds.

On the other side of that same coin, however, Seattle also hasn’t won a game in quite some time – four weeks, to be exact – as the Seahawks enter this contest following losses in five of their last six games, with their only win during that span coming in a 29-26 thriller against Washington.

In the grand scheme of things, I hate making excuses for teams based on strength of schedule. Strength of schedule is a double edged sword. If a team plays a tough schedule and wins a bunch of close games, everybody thinks they are a fraud. But if a team plays an easy schedule and stomps a bunch of bad teams, those same people will also call them frauds.

However, I would be remiss if I didn’t point out the fact that the Eagles have played the toughest schedule in the league thus far, highlighted by six of their last seven games coming against a gauntlet of Miami, Kansas City, Buffalo, San Francisco and Dallas (2) – and they won four of those six contests.

Sure, they got stomped in their last two. But the 49ers blow out pretty much everybody they face (when healthy), and last week’s Sunday nighter between Philly and Dallas reeked of weird turnover luck and officiating in addition to poor defensive play.

The Eagles might not quite be the powerhouse that they appeared to be a few weeks ago. But they are still much better than this Seattle team. I think we’ll see the Birds bounce back on Monday night.

Philadelphia Eagles Betting Analysis

The biggest difference between last year’s Eagles team and this year’s team has been their defensive play, and it’s only getting worse for the current iteration of the Birds defense as their top CB Darius Slay is set to miss some time after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery earlier this week.

Philadelphia ranked top-eight in scoring on both sides of the ball last season. However, this year’s team wields nowhere near that impressive level of balance. The Eagles offense has continued to pull its weight as they rank seventh in points scored per game. But when you combine that with a defense that ranks 28th in scoring, Philly is far less dangerous than the team that reached last year’s Super Bowl.

Seattle Seahawks Betting Analysis

Over the last few weeks, the most noticeable flaw in the Eagles defense has been their inability to contain big, physical pass-catchers in the open field – and that was with Slay. Dalton Kincaid and Gabe Davis combined for 143 receiving yards on 11 catches against Philly three weeks ago. Deebo Samuel and George Kittle shredded them for 184 yards on nine catches two weeks ago. Jake Ferguson and Tony Pollard had 109 yards on 12 catches last week. So, who’s next?

Without Slay on the field to anchor Philly’s secondary, this has the makings of a great spot for one the biggest, and most physical wide receivers in the league in DK Metcalf. At face value, Metcalf has fallen short of 55 receiving yards in two of his last three outings. However, it’s important to take into account that both of those lackluster performances came in tough division matchups against San Francisco.
