Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys Best Bet

Opening night of the 2025-26 NFL season is here, and that means the defending Super Bowl champion, Philadelphia Eagles, will host divisional rival, the Dallas Cowboys.

Recently, Dallas has made headlines, but not necessarily for the right reasons. In a shocking move, after failing to come to an agreement on an extension, owner/general manager Jerry Jones parted ways with superstar Micah Parsons just a little over a week before their first game:

With Parsons, this was a suspect Cowboys defence at best, with plenty of holes. Without him, this may be one of the worst defenses in football.

Because of this, I expect Dallas to have to chase Philly with a ton of dropback passes and empty yards through the air. Although Dallas fans may be fed up with Jerry Jones' antics, you can't help but get excited about the prospect of George Pickens being added alongside star CeeDee Lamb.

Despite volatile QB play, Pickens has caught for over 2,000 yards in the past two years in Pittsburgh. He now enters a contract year in the best offensive infrastructure of his young career. With the Eagles breaking in two new starters on their back end, including at the cornerback two spot opposite Quinyon Mitchell, I expect Pickens to make a splash on opening night.

Eagles vs. Cowboys Best Bet: George Pickens Over 53.5 Receiving Yards (-112 at BetMGM Sportsbook)

Can the Cowboys beat the Eagles?

As the saying goes, anybody can beat anybody on "any given Sunday" in the NFL. Of course, this game will take place on Thursday, but the point still stands. Although oddsmakers aren't giving the Cowboys much of a chance with such a huge spread (8.5 points), it's always tough to beat a divisional opponent in the NFL.
