BREAKING: Philip Rivers will make his first start since the 2021 playoffs for the Indianapolis Colts against the Seattle Seahawks. The 44-year old will play NFL snaps, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. This market is still open, but the news makes it all but a done deal, Rivers will play.
The Indianapolis Colts have been dealt with a few quarterback injuries. Daniel Jones ruptured his achilles and is out for the season, and backup Riley Leonard suffered a knee injury when he came in for relief of Jones against the Jags.
This led to the Colts signing veteran Philip Rivers as reported by ESPN. Philip Rivers is 44 years old and a grandfather. Rivers has not played professional football since 2020, where he threw for 4,169 yards, 24 TDs and 11 INTs. Philip Rivers was signed to the Colts' practice squad, and Riley Leonard is listed as questionable for their matchup against the Seahawks.
Will Philip Rivers Play For Any NFL Team This Season?
Kalshi currently offers odds on whether or not Philip Rivers will play a snap for any NFL team this season. This seems like it will happen since the Colts' signed him to their practice squad, but There is a real possibility that Leonard is ready to go and Rivers is only an insurance policy. However, if Leonard does end up playing and he gets seriously injured Rivers could see the field.

Here are the current odds for Whether or not Philip Rivers will play for any pro football team this season (via Kalshi):
- Yes (91%)
- No (9%)
It is important to read the rules of markets on Kalshi closely. Philip Rivers will have to PLAY in a professional football game before February 9th, 2026. Just being on a team does not matter.
Philip Rivers Won't See The Field
In my opinion, I think it is unlikely that Rivers sees the field and this signing is more of an insurance policy than anything else. With the current share price of "No" being 24 cents, I think there is value here as the actual price should probably be closer to 50/50. I don't think Rivers plays this week, so it would be contingent on Leonard's health for the rest of the season to see if this market resolves "yes".
