New Orleans Saints vs Minnesota Vikings

  • Opening point spread: Saints -2.5
  • Opening moneyline: Saints -145/Vikings +125
  • Opening total: Over/Under 41 points scored
  • Time: 1 p.m. ET Sunday (FOX)

UPDATE 10:45 A.M. ET SUNDAY: The Saints opened -2.5 (-115) at Caesars Sports and peaked at -3 (-120) Thursday. New Orleans returned to -2.5 Friday, then went to -3 this morning. Spread ticket count is dead even, while spread money is running 2/1 on the favored Saints.

The total opened at 38.5 and topped out at 41 multiple times, on Monday/Thursday/Friday. It remains 41 this morning. Current Caesars splits aren't available.

UPDATE 4:30 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: New Orleans opens and remains -2.5 at TwinSpires Sportsbook. Minnesota is seeing 57% of early tickets/60% of early money.

"The public is on the Josh Dobbs train. And on the moneyline, bettors are finding it hard to pass up +120 at home, on a team that has won four straight," Lucas said.

The total crept from 40.5 to 41, with 58% of early tickets/64% of early dollars on the Over.

UPDATE 11:30 P.M. ET SUNDAY: Minnesota had no Kirk Cousins, then saw rookie QB Jaren Hall get knocked out of the game in the first half, and yet still won in Week 9. Newly acquired Josh Dobbs, not necessarily expected to play at Atlanta, stepped in and delivered.

A Dobbs-to-Brandon Powell TD pass in the waning seconds gave Minnesota (5-4 SU/5-3-1 ATS) a 31-28 victory as a 3.5-point underdog.

New Orleans (5-4 SU/2-6-1 ATS) beat Chicago 24-17, but couldn't cover as a 9-point home favorite.

The Saints-Vikings total dipped a notch tonight at The SuperBook, from 41 to 40.5.

Saints vs. Vikings Pick, Prediction

Action Network NFL betting expert Brandon Anderson offers this prediction:

Both defenses rank top 10 by DVOA, and defense looks like the name of the game. That continues to be the Saints calling card, even with the offense trending up. New Orleans matches up well with opposing WR1s and TEs, so unless Jefferson ends up playing, Minnesota may not have many other options. But Brian Flores has done an incredible job with the Vikings' defense, so that could limit scoring both ways.

Games featuring a home underdog have gone under 62% of the time over the past two seasons, and both of these teams have been terrific under bets this season, with each at 7-2 (78%). It's possible the Saints finally win an easy one against a shorthanded Vikings' offense, but even there, a blowout 28-10 type win still hits the under.

Pick: Under 40.5 (-110)

The One Stat to Know About Saints vs. Vikings

Action Network NFL researcher Evan Abrams offers his top betting stat:

Under head coach Kevin O’Connell, the Vikings are 3-6 ATS as underdogs, but those three wins came SU and as underdogs of 6+ points.
